Saddest thing is I can't disagree with that. Then again if him being in the squad limits Kieran Wallace's game time I'm all for it, cos he is a potential star in the making.

Kieran Wallace looked average when he was playing at his very best and absolutely fucking useless when at his more regular standard; no pace, poor technique and not much physical strength.

We have very few, if any "stars in the making" and Wallace isn't even the best of a very bad bunch. He looks like the non-league player he was before we inexplicably plucked him from obscurity.

We don't have time to gamble on these sorts of players improving enough to have a valid claim for a first team place and even McEveley is a better bet for a starting berth at the moment. Hopefully they'll both go and we'll sign better anyway.

I thought Jay McEveley had a decent second half of the season after a poor start. If we can get better players in great, but with a limited budget are we really going to be able to bring in a load of quality players. Tin hat time, but I would give him another year.

He did OK in the 2nd half of the season (barring the worst handball I’ve ever seen and being culpable on a couple of goals in the final games). But overall he is not of the standard required and only going to get worse with age. For me, KIeron Wallace is already at a similar level to him and has time on his side to improve. McEveley will only stand in his way. Either sign better or go with youth and use the money to sign better in other positions.

I'd say young Kieron looks a decent prospect. Got forward and defended reasonably well. No dazzling skills or lightening pace but decent strength, aggression and mobility and is quite hard working. Chipped in with a couple of assist from the LB position.
