Must be true - not only in the star but now the Yorkshire Post too

Here is the linky

Not that surprised - will severely dent our chances of automatic as there will be nothing serios to replace him IMO

Interview, well snippet, on RS this morning of DW saying the same (although we'll have to wait for the interpreters to tell us what he really meant).
Doesn't think he'll be here after transfer window but no bids yet. Preparing for him going (didn't explain what this meant though).

least they are letting us know and not the normal he has flu
or going to bed on deadline day and waking up seeing at 11:59 a sale went through.

i have always expected Quinn and Monty not to be here any way so not a shock

Losing Quinny would be a hammer blow, but it looks like any sort of reasonable offer will make it happen.

Wilson must have something lined up to replace him, surely?

I guess it's inevitable that Quinn's tranny will go to the wire next Friday and we will end up not getting the paperwork sorted in time for any potential replacement (there's even fewer staff to work out how the fax machine operates now - in any case it's probably an artifact that none of the admin staff have ever seen never mind used before) - then the normal process will follow in that we will be using a loan signing to cover the left side of midfield.

Unless Quinn's replacement is a lightening quick winger with excellent close control and can beat a man in the twinkling of an eye to deliver a pinpoint cross to the forwards I fear this change will result in us flapping around for play off places at best. Our supply to the front fellers will be very one dimensional if the best we have is Doyle & Macca in the centre and just a few of the inexperienced academy kids offering any sort of width.

The silver lining for Pinchy with Quinn gone may be that there will be less pressure on the Monty & Cresswell situation (although I suspect they are still desperate to get rid of both)

I suppose there is always the option to play Creswell on the left again

....... and dare I say it, Monty in the middle with Doyle and push Macca on the right

:tumbleweed:

I honestly think you will be looking at McFadzean as the replacement. I like him but is he ready for that?

We also have Tønne (two goals and an assist in his last three games), but I'm sure we have a loan or something lined up.

Really?

I dont think Quinn will be going, wages will put prospective teams off as it did last year.

On the other hand though, if DW has said its so then it must be true ;)

NO you dare NOT.. wash your mouth out with soapo_O

An ideal replacement for Stephen Quinn would be Alan Judge, similar credentials, attacking left side midfielder, good assist and goals record. He is in the last year of his contract, probably about same price tag as Quinny but big saving on wages, and only 23 years old !!

I can't see how Tonne has improved that much over the summer to make a League 1 club first team.
Non league York loaned him for 4 months yet he couldn't break into their lineup he was good enough for only 2 appearances one of those a sub.

Sorry, just recovering from my panic attack three hours ago, thanks to Kenilworth. I'd gladly replace Quinn with Judge, financial difficulties or not. He already posts on here for one thing!

Whitehouse should be back soon from his broken toe injury. Not a direct replacement for Quinny but a useful midfield option by all accounts - and he has an eye for a goal.

I keep seeing this thread title and read it as "Quinn Off With Tranny", which in many ways would be a far better solution for all parties concerned. :)

Methinks that is but a Freudian impulse for you TB
Nice of you to share that with us though.
Did you watch Sean Bean in the Accused the other week?
Seems it might have had more impact than you first imagined

Don't know it 'til you've tried it

Given the opportunity I think Whitehouse might suprise a few. A much better option than both McCallister and Tonne who IMO are not good enough. If we wanted to be really positive we could play him instead of the highly overrated Doyle alongside McDonald, as he has a good engine and isn't frightened to put himself about.

There will be no replacements for players leaving.
Im sure DW has been told that he will have to blood the young players.

we all know were our problems lie out wide, don't think tonne is the answer, and the younger guys from the youth team maybe to come on off the bench when were 4-0 up{yeah right}would'nt like to see quinn go but would assume danny has a replacement or 2 lined up as quinney would be on a decent wedge?would prefer another2 more mids as macca was doing a good job midweek but can be injury prone and then maybe throw mid over to shore up williamson/hills side of the pitch, would defo include the young guy with the italian name in match squad just to get him used to itblades win today blackman again

I sure that the majority of fans would like to see young players come through the system. In the recent past various managers have been criticised for not giving youth a chance. Instead they've tended to bring in ageing journeymen - often on loan. Certainly it is difficult to introduce youngsters into a Premiership side, and even a Championship one, but surely we are now in the best position to bring on the youngsters. We have an ideal Academy by all accounts, so let's accept the fact that we'll be using some inexperienced, young players this season. Probably some will not make the grade, but others might. These are exciting times!

To be honest I'm not fussed whether academy kids are playing or we put out a Dad's Army XI as long as we're winning.

I don't want us losing our players (Monty apart) and integrating the kids for the sake of it and labelling this as a "transitional season" or anything like that. I want us to keep our best players at all costs because weakening an already thin squad might save a few quid in the short term, but the longer we're in this shit division, the longer lasting the financial damage will be.

I want results. Who gets those results for us, I'm not too bothered.

We all want results, but I would much rather get results from a largely home-grown team than - as is the case in the Premiership these days - a load of here-today-gone-tomorrow foreigners with unpronounceable names, that I cannot relate to in the slightest.

It still fills me with pride to think that I saw the likes of Alan Woodward make his first appearances for the Blades as an 18-year-old. In more recent times I watched Dane Whitehouse and Mitch Ward develop from Juniors into the Second Team, and then into the First. Without such grass-root development there's little point in following your local football team. You might as well support Man U or Barcelona.

People need to get used to the idea that the howngrown talent team is never going to happen.

People need to get used to the idea that the howngrown talent team is never going to happen.

It may happen but it would be very unlikely to be successful.
Some players only kick on when they move - because of things like maturity, motivation, ralisation etc.
You always need to augment your local talent with something bought in.
Having said that if you have a good stock of local talent this gives you the platform to succeed - because there is a togetherness and ethos at a club that pervades everything.

Right now though - we are shit
