...as life returns to my freezing hands.

We started brightly, had a bit more urgency in the first 10 mins, then quickly returned to standard as Walsall began to wake up. We barely tested their keeper – whereas the defence and Long were called into action repeatedly.

Middle of midfield was a bit better than last week. Middle of defence too. But we were extremely lucky to come in level.

2nd half, they started brighter, got a simple goal, we then woke up. From then on end-to-end. Adams was inexplicably denied a certain pen and probable red after getting past their keeper with sight on goal. Baxter's stroked in the equaliser after their defence gave him far too much time. Adams late on had a superb chance to win it but didn't take it.

Ratings for what it's worth:

Long 7.5/10 – he seemed to get pelters for everything, but made a number of decent saves and one in particular first half was a superb tip wide. He's not good on crosses, he is not good on communication, but his shot-stopping was solid. Possibly kept it level at the end, didn't get a good view.

Freeman/Harris 6.5/10 – error-ridden I thought, distribution variable

Collins/Basham 7.5/10 – both decent today.

Coutts/Hammond 6.5/10 – probably both better than last week, still not good enough.

JCR/Baxter 7/10 – both our main threats throughout

Adams/Sharp 6/10 – frustrating

Sammon – gave us strength
"Scergle" – little impact

Overall, still not good enough.
