Question for any SUFC historians

Can someone tell me if my grandfather Joseph Wild (or Wilde) ever played for the club? He had a short spell with QPR and when their historian sent me the info his email said "also played for Sheffield United' If he ever did it would have been around the time of the First World War

During the war there were many guest players as linked here.

Many thanks Silent Blade & Tom Bott. I did find a list a while back somewhere on the web and he wasn't on that either, so I guess this confirms it. I expect if he had played for the Blades someone in the family would have mentioned it, knowing my affection/affliction. Your grandfather is listed here as being a QPR player during the war.
He isn't listed as a 'former' Sheffield United player. So if he played for the Blades presumably it was after the war.
You could try contacting the site see what info they have using war records etc. . .

of very old programmes. My minces can’t make out a date on these, perhaps our resident historian/
oracle could assist? Silent Blade , you may have to look for the reverse card images for the names,
on the saleroom.com website.
