As you know, Tottenham Hotspur bought Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton from Sheffield United back in July 2009.

At the time, the transfers were listed as an "undisclosed fee", but the general concensus is that Spurs paid around £10 million for the pair with Naughton valued at £6 million and Walker at £4 million.

The London Stock Exchange regulations compel Spurs to declare any individual player's transfer (both incoming and outgoing) if the value is £7 million or more, but no such regulation exists if a player's transfer fee is less than that amount.

Does anyone on here have any solid information about the transfers?

The soul of Sheffield United was part of the deal.

The numbers bandided around on here at the time were £8m - £9m (I think). Either way you got a bargain (albeit Walker looks the most likely to actuially make it)

But with our negotiating team, if the "general consensus" is that you paid £10m for the pair, you probably actually paid about £10 + a pack of pork scratchings...

3 peanuts and a mars bar for Naughton.

2 peanuts and a tangerine for Walker. And we really shouldn't have accepted anything less than two peanuts, a tangerine and an apple.

Our Chairman McCabe said at a fans forum it was £5M for Naughton + £1M based on appearances and £3M for Walker + £1M based on appearances.
Neither has hardly played for Spurs so we've probably received £8M for the pair so far.
We also got an agreement that we could borrow Walker on a full season loan. He was recalled after six months on deadline day which left us no time to find a replacement. Thanks!
We also had a "special arrangement" which allowed us to possibly bring other Spurs youngsters in on loan
(As if that's somehow different to the arrangement every other club has with Spurs!).
Apparently there weren't any others good enough to improve our mid-table Championship team, so we didn't bother!

£8m in the accounts but club statements suggested it will go up to £10m with the usual add-ons.
Could we have them back til the end of the season?

Even if we had both, along with KIlgallon, Beattie, Hallford and others, I fear it would still be too late to avoid the drop. The arithmetic says we can escape. In reality, the point of no return has been and gone.

Thanks for all your replies, chaps.

I suppose £10 million for the pair isn't too far off the mark then.

Oh... why is the West Wing's Toby Ziegler at the top of the page?

Is he a big Sheffield United fan?

But if we had not given them away in the first place we would not be in this predicament....would we?

It usually takes more than 2 players to make a decent team. But given how many goals we have given away by just not picking up people running into the box (ie by rank bad defending), you are probably right.

It does take more than 2 to make a team you are right....but we have sold quality players and replaced them with inferior players. We can not afford to sell our young talent when we are not in a position to replace them, especially when we are not prepared to spend the proceeds on those replacements. How many of those on this forum will still maintain that selling the two Kyles was good business. £8 million looks a juicy number but how much is it going to cost us when relegation becomes a reality? Spurs, and the cockney conman, shafted us with that deal. Where are the young spurs talented players we were promised? walker was recalled a the drop of a hat and then loaned out again FFS. I do not suppose we could expect much more from an ex West Ham manager...if you follow my drift.
