Mr original post above just appeared!

Whilst I appreciate the first team needed the cover it's not looking like cutting short Lopata's loan is doing him any favours.

I'm sure he'll have been training with the first team, and there's every chance he'll end up getting minutes over the next month - he's an injury/suspension away from the bench and 2 away from playing I think! And if we hadn't have got clearance for the newbie, he'd be one higher up the pecking order.

Whilst thats probably inferior to playing for Southend, being around Shirecliffe is probably not an awful result, and he may yet get his chance.

As romantic as that might sound, no chance it will happen. Far too raw.
Agreed, and it's definitely romantic, but at this point in the injury crisis I'd say we could do with a bit of fairytale magic! 😂

I'm hoping 'trialist' is Brazilian
I'm guessing he has represented England at schoolboy level

Both the U23s and the U18s in with a great shout to win their leagues.

Kudos to the work done at the Academy by Hecky, Jack, Del and Collins and may I've missed.

Also shows that it is good timing now to up the levels and take it to A status.

The chasing pack can't better United if we get 8 points from the remaining 5 games and it could be far less.

Have we ever won both in the same season? Silent Blade ?

It depends what question is being asked. Although I doubt I'll be any use in answering any of them. League structures change all the time. I'm currently aware of United fielding SEVEN Men's league teams at various levels. In that pyramid, the U23s would be Step 2, the B team. The U18s would be Step 3, the C team. (With the First Team, playing in the EFL, being the A Team). Over time, Step 2 & Step 3 have been known by a number of names - the Reserves & the Juniors for instance. If the question is - have our Step 2 B team & our Step 3 C team both won their respective leagues in the same season, I ain't got the facilities to answer that.

If it's a narrower question - since the introduction of the Professional Development League Structure in 2012/13 have our Step 2 B team & our step 3 C team both won their respective leagues in the same season. I ain't got the facilities to answer that.

But, I can tell you what's happened since 2014/15 - when records are easier to look up.

No.

The U18s won their North League & the National Title in 2016/17. But the U23s finished 7/10. Sheffield Wednesday won the U23s North & the National Title that year.

The U23s won their North League in 2020/21 (but not the National Title). The U18s finished 3/9 in their league that season.

In 2015/16, both the U18s & U23s finished 2nd in their North Leagues. Both contesting, but losing their National Titles.

Since 2014/15 NO Club has won a Professional Development League U18 league in the same year as an U21/U23 league.
