The game was cancelled on 12 December, which means that all free weeks were available at that time for the rescheduled game. We played Preston on Tuesday and QPR haven’t had a game midweek, so this date was available IF they had not had ulterior reasons for not playing then.

Maybe United chose to play Preston and wanted QPR later on in the season. Just as likely as any other explanation.

Apart from that games are supposed to be rescheduled within 7 days and the Preston game wasn’t postponed until 14 days later.

I cannot see where there is an obligation to reschedule within 7 days, especially where one side has COVID cases.

In accordance with Regulation 28.1, postponed fixtures must be re-arranged at the earliest reasonable opportunity and be agreed within seven days of the postponement. It is accepted that there are some circumstances where it is beneficial to delay the re-dating of matches.
