Only watched it on TV. There was a time I'd be up early so I could get a few drinks in before kick off, but thought I should behave myself as it takes me several days to recover at my age.

United win, straight out to the pub, and been drinking since (not too heavy, trying to pace myself), but I feel a hell of a hangover is coming in the morning.

Drink hearty Blades, for these are happy times. Best Blades team I have seen to be honest; I said the same when we peaked early last season, but this is better.
If we were to go up I would expect a challenging season at the very least, and I am used to seeing these lads win. So enjoy it while it lasts, even if it means missing out via the play offs.

You did the right thing, The Nortnern Monk Tap was not worth the 25 minute walk in the rain. I had high hopes of finding true liquid celebration but instead found (post match) some Hackney hipster wannabe beard wankers who looked oddly at my very wet appearance. I also didn’t have tight turn ups, canvas shoes or my top button done up without a tie on. Tap itself offered nowt unusual and was identokit like the upstairs ones in Ipswich and Swansea by the docks etc. I love new beer but am getting a bit concerned that the trendiness of Taps are driving away middle aged football/ beer fans with their fussiness and pricing policy.

Oddly enough the spellchecker has just altered pricing policy to pricking policy. Perhaps it knows something I don’t....

I actually quite like Northern Monk. Although I had a shocker the first time I went in. The barman (piercings & a metal band he'd never heard of t-shirt) asked my wife what type of beers she preferred. She said "hopped West coast pales". He helpfully advised her & she got a great one. I asked "what styles are those two guests at the bottom of the board". He's gone - you see these numbers here, those are alcohol percentages, those two are very strong, so you won't be wanting them will you.

"Mate, I'm going over there to sit with my wife while she drinks that pale. Anytime you fancy coming over & telling me the style of those beers, you'll know where to find me....."

Generally, I don't mind about other customers & pricing policy - I'll endure all that & more for the right beer. But, obvs, I recognise the good points you make.

No. They had a Triple Gose Collab with Two Tribes from N London. But, I didn't have that one.

Where do you drink out your way? The only places I can recall being in that might be anywhere near you are Sauce Brewing & The Henson, both in Marrackville. Maybe Young Henry's isn't too far.

The wedding on Saturday was at the Art House Hotel on Pitt Street in the city, but we generally don't go to pubs unless it's for a meal. Close to us it's either the Royal or the Norton on Norton Street, but they aren't really brew pubs or anything.

Marrickville is not too far away though. I was last in Young Henry's last year before a Strangler's concert at the Enmore Theatre - that was a top night.
