SCC proposed roadworks. This plan was sent to residents in Highfield.

No dates given on the plan, but presumably it'll be during the summer months.
Once completed, there will be no access to Bramall Lane from either Hill St or Woodhead Rd.
Just a 'heads up' on changes you'll be seeing.

Saw those signs when driving from work in last few weeks. Not a great junction(s)

To be honest, that junction is so batshit mental they can't possibly make it any worse than it already is.

No real solution to the traffic whichever way. IMO this makes it worse !!

It's a dangerous junction and interfears with traffic flow on Bramall lane.
All councils are trying to cut out right turns and rabbit runs.

So instead of pissing about with minor modifications, why don't they turn one of the main arteries into the city - Bramall Lane - into a dual carriageway? They did it with Penistone Road. (Think I answered my own question there...)

Or stick a spur line for the tram along it. Could use the rolling stock and rails on the track to S6 as no fucker will be using it next season.

I can see the need to sort something with it but surely everyone will use the road below and still want to turn right? I have zero confidence in our anti-car run council to get it right. I can point to numerous places where they actually made things worse

Heeley Green. Removed a perfectly good roundabout, made a T junction and blocked off the lower end of Gleadless Road. That didn't work so they made a T junction next to a T junction and a keep clear area that everyone ignores. Absolute gridlock most rush hours.
Bottom of Carfield Road near Meersbrook Garage - the road narrowing exercise. How the fuck did that get through? "Listen, I've got a good idea - lets block off one side of the road so that anyone coming round the corner has to go on the wrong side of the road. On a blind bend. Next to a T junction. And just for shits and giggles we'll put the road narrowing opposite a bus stop so when the bus pulls up no fucker can go anywhere."

The multi million pound project to shift the traffic bottle neck from Heeley retail park 500 yds down the road?

The millions spent moving a traffic queue from the end of Abbey Lane a bit further up Meadowhead? Then spending millions changing it cos it was shit?

Exactly this. Its a pig of a junction but its also a busy junction. The traffic will just be diverted elsewhere with resulting chaos. My bet is Rowland Road a bit further on which is a shame as its my favourite shortcut for turning right onto Bramall Lane without the hassle of the aforementioned junction.

To be honest we're just lucky our council didn't slap a compulsory purchase order on the Railway and knock it down so everyone can see better
