Thats what I believe our current philosophy is at United.

The rumour about Jake Wright heading out made me think. A quality player in League one and the epitome of what we now are as a club

Sure we have the prolific Billy Sharp, the solid JOC, energetic Basham, dynamic Fleck.

But those early moves by Wilder to bring in quality like Wright allowed us to move forward. We’ve progressed with so many of the side that got us out of league one

It’s a progressive approach which I love

Now, far be it from me to criticise the music choices of another, but I couldn’t help but notice that one of the blokes on the ”Haze” thingy at bottom left - the one playing the left handed twin necked guitar - has on his head what appears to be the Sorting Hat from the Harry Potter films. This would indicate, along with the two ladies stage centre on flute and violin, that they are a musical ensemble that does a lot of songs about magical things. Would I be correct?

Emerson Lake and Palmer; Yes;Genesis; Pink Floyd; Jethro Tull; King Crimson; Vann der Graf Generator.
Van der graf generator were shocking when I went to see them live...made my hair stand on end...and when they teamed up with ELO....all the lights fused.....:tumbleweed:

Wrong. They did songs about Land Rovers, the view over Sheffield at night, drinking, moles, more drinking (a whole album called Stoat and Bottle). And so on. Plus, I gave up giving a fuck what other people thought about my musical taste in 1983.

Surely if most of your prog rock from the 70's and 80's hasn't yet hit the mainstream it can't have been all that prog? :)

Pink Floyd, Yes, and Genesis shifted a few units between them. Besides, scratching beneath the surface and finding the non-mainstream, like Cardiacs for example, is much more fun.

Here is a possibly little known fact and possibly one of the most tenuous Wilder links. It is however 100% true.

The Haze drummer, known as Mr Chisnell, taught Chris Wilder, known as a fucking great manager and bloke, maths for the two years he was at Silverdale.

Chiz! A Haze legend, although now sadly retired owing to the onset of tinnitus.

They don’t sound too bad then.

They are very Prog Rock though, and their folk offshoot Treebeard, well they really are how you initially Haze to be like!
When I worked at the Fleur at Totley we had Treebeard on a fair few times. They weren’t too bad if memory serves me correctly, although it was over 16 years ago that I left there......

Football - Wilder has repeatedly said in his interviews about constantly wanting to 'improve the group' and I heard Danny Wilson saying something similar on Sheffield Live, that although we don't get it right every time, in terms of playing personnel, we've come a long way in two and a half years. You only have to compare the defence from then to now. With budgetary constraints, this is obviously going to be a gradual process, unless of course we get promoted, then the game changes somewhat. For me the key has been the stability that Wilder has instilled, the battle in the boardroom notwithstanding.

Music - love a bit of Pink Floyd, not so keen on listening to Rick Wakeman noodle on and on for hours.
