I seem to remember the Prince saying judge him on his actions a while back. Seems to me like he can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. One thing is for sure McScrooge would never have backed Wilder like the Prince has we would be searching around for free transfers. Up to now Prince Abdullah hasn't put a foot wrong long may it continue I think the bloke is the real deal.

Just out of curiosity, I put obsequious into the search thingy above.

Almost all uses of it, and there have been a few, are in relation to the oinkers and Chansiri, so your point is well made. One notable exception is Pinchy, accusing us of being obsequious to just about anybody in our knee bending, forelock tugging way.

Re the ground has legally obliged to buy it, so he's only spending money he has to.

Well. The Prince has come up trumps again somehow.
Whether it’s his money or he’s getting other people to invest their’s in different ways - who knows.
What I do know though is that this signing tells me they are serious about the club, our long-term survival at the top level & backing CWAK as a management team.
Whatever happens this season, the club’s future looks rosy - a lot rosier than some other clubs that are close by geographically but a million miles away in every other sense.

A cynic would say he’s protecting his assets. He couldn’t afford to own the club if it were in the championship and the parachute payments have run out. Relegation has the potential to be disastrous to him. He’s obviously aware of this so he’s doing everything he can to minimise the risk. It would be easy to think “we finished 9th, relegation isn’t likely so we’ll not spend much this season and hopefully we’l stay up” but football’s about fine margins, as we saw in 2007. It’s like an insurance policy, he’s spent money trying to avoid losing a much greater sum. It’s a calculated gamble.

I agree completely.

You know I've backed McCabe in the past, for stepping up when nobody else would or could. One thing is certain. McCabe wouldn't have paid £23m for his 'insurance policy'. You are correct that the Prince is protecting his investment, but spending far more to do it than I would have anticipated.
