Well that’s 90 minutes I’ll never get back. That was honestly one of the worst Preston performances I’ve seen in a while. Neil has done a decent job for us but he got it all wrong today. I know you’s made changes but we made 8! We just aren’t good enough to be able to make 8 changes- we are good when we are good because we are a tight knit group and solid as a team. Some of the second string, Horgan, Welsh, Earl just currently aren’t good enough.

As for the game it was two sides who didn’t really look like they wanted to win the game. We created very little and once again look like we are missing Sean Maguire. First half was even ish but second half was where the game was won by the blades and even though you’s weren’t great you were better than us ( Kind of like at Deepdale earlier on ?). Not sure about the penalty looked 50/50 from where I was sat but either way Clarke has given the ref a decision to make and was a bad call from an usually reliable operator.

Side note, our fans were a disgrace with the chants at Evans and also the fan running on the pitch was a bit daft. However the average age of those singing was about 16 which tells you all you needed to know. Hoped for a slightly better atmosphere from the blades but understand it wasn’t exactly that meaningful a fixture.

Overall, a poor day at the office for PNE who desperately look like needing some creative quality. Our season looks dangerously like petering out unless we hit form soon ( which I wouldn’t put past us) Again, Blades fans I spoke to were perfectly pleasant and a few north Enders let us down a bit. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully you can go a bit further in the cup.

Hi again mate. Was a woeful game, poor from your gaffer to make so many changes really given those who had come up to watch. Shame for yous as we weren’t really at the office ourselves and if you hadn’t as made as many changes if may have been another story. Still, good that for us you didnt and hopefully we can get united away next.

Thanks for the report mate. Impression I got was your fans were confident pre game, so can imagine so many changes were disappointing.

Excellent turnout from you guys, we all have our knobhead element don’t worry about it.
Agreed with your assessment of the game. Just before it was given I predicted the only way either side would score would be a penalty.
Anyway all the best mate, hopefully the league game will be a better spectacle.

Thanks for coming.

As always a pleasure to host Preston at the Lane, a proper club with a decent set of knowledgable fans. Every club has its small element of dickheads, don’t worry about it. I’ve probably seen us play you lot more than anyone so I’ve got a good idea what the PNE fans are really like.

I thought today was like the fixture last month at Deepdale in reverse. We deserved the win, Preston looked poor, but understandable given the number of changes.

See you in a few weeks time and Good luck in the meantime

Why is that poor from the gaffer? We made 7 changes also so why is this a poor decision it's just the way it is, no one really wants to risk there starting 11 when games come thick and fast in the championship. If you can get through the early stages of the cup while resting a few players that's a good decision surely? It was also same when we played Ipswich away.

Dry your eyes sunshine...we’ve just come up from L1 and have one of the lowest budgets in the league...

Fair play mate don’t think too many on here will argue with you there , we knew both teams were gonna play the fringe players & it showed .

I was looking forward to the game. If i’d had a crystal ball beforehand I don’t think I’d have bothered.

So many parallels with the game at Deepdale. Apart from the Preston fans turning up in more than just numbers, and actually supporting their team. Even if the Evans chants were pathetic.

Seems like us and PNE both saved our worst away performance of the season for each other!

,I think Preston got what they deserved, nothing, horrible, awful, niggly time wasting team, aided and abetted by a very incompetent referee.

To which United do you refer ?

We were poor yesterday but still a little bit better than PNE. I was disappointed in how negative PNE were, as neither team wanted a replay.

Also, I didn’t understand why they didn’t bring Gallagher on, because they were crying out for a bit of quality on the ball. Basically, we were there to be beaten.
