Although we can't dictate unless we have a shoes off protest where do we want our pre-season tour to be this year?
I have liked the Portugal trips, Cyprus would be quite good too or are we fancying a home isles tour of Scotland and Cumbria?
Sussex ideally

Edit: I should have read responses and seen essentially the same joke's been made ten times!

We are the biggest club in Europe that have never qualified for a European competition. Our fans would love to see us play in a proper friendly with a decent, well-supported European team. But we always seem to just go to a training camp in Portugual that is swelteringly hot and have a kick about against local opposition.

I'm sure that there are plenty of big city clubs in Europe that would give us a game, and our fans would travel in numbers and spend money. I'd love to see a friendly in a proper stadium with a decent crowd. St Pauli, Bochum, Strasbourg, Valencia, AGF Aarhus, Bilbao, wherever. I'd go for sure. Really can't be arsed with low-key friendlies in Portugal though.

I don't know how easy these things are to arrange in fairness but if we play what I'd term credible Portuguese opposition, ideally top flight, then we'd probably go.

We had two decent friendlies last time in fairness, although I was hoping for Lille rather than Reims.

Marseille and whoever wins Belgian league (sell Ili and Sander to em respectively) plus others.

Why aren’t we ont list of PL pre seasons?

Why aren’t Wendy on it? Oh, just a minute…….

I’m in Portugal end of June, is that too early? Can’t remember when we’ve done it before.

As the Premier League kicks off a week later than our previous season starts I’m expecting game around 19/20 July in the Lisbon area. Hopefully a day or two later to suit me personally to avoid Ashes OT clash !

This and the fact the club only bothers tell fans about the plans about 2 weeks before, make it difficult for most people to go.

It'd be good to have another big game at home too, like the Inter Milan game. Just been listening to the Four Blades podcast and they were talking about giving Sharp a proper send off. Doing so against an elite club in this bracket, at home, would be perfect.

Real Betis not big enough for you , they only average 50,000 for their home crowds :)

Didn't I see we have been invited to AuS
Not quite, it was the Star doing their usual of making the most out of a passing comment.

Monty said in an interview he'd like to play United, with Central Coast Mariners. That's it.

Hecky said on the bus in a interview that pre season is sorted and he's happy about that as last couple of years for various reasons it hasn't been sorted early so hopefully the club will inform the fans?!

Yes, a random ground used in the EUROs!!! I've seen Portugal v England at it. I mean, Real Betis in an international stadium near a major holiday destination. What more do people want?
You must admit it would have been far better at their stadium in Seville with thousands of home fans making a noise. Given enough notice plenty of Blades would make such a journey too.

A couple of years ago under Slav we went to Valencia pre-season and played a Valencia X1 behind closed doors at their training ground. That could have been played at one of the city's smaller stadiums with paying fans - would have been a great little trip.

To be honest I had forgotten about the game v Reims. Very short notice wasn't it?

Said it elsewhere Istanbul 3 friendlies against decent opposition (and the chance for dodgy replica kits 😁)

I think Scotland is off the radar forever now, after the Tannadice summer monsoon brought an early end to proceedings :(

God no, one of the last times United were there pre-season (74/75 ish) they stayed in the same Hotel as Stoke, United sent a team selection to play a game in Israel, when they returned from the match Geoff Sammons had been sold to Stoke..

Gutted. I’d love to see us abroad but back from Lisbon way before then.
