Sheffield United could finalise their preparations for next season north of the border after several Scottish Premier and Football League clubs contacted Bramall Lane about the possibility of staging summer friendlies.
Although last term’s beaten play-off semi-finalists have yet to officially confirm their plans, The Star understands staff are scrutinising offers from teams at both SPL and SFL level received before Monday’s defeat by Yeovil Town.
United’s priority is deciding who will take charge of first-team affairs following Danny Wilson’s departure last month. Chris Morgan, appointed on an interim basis four weeks ago, confirmed his interest soon after the 2-0 defeat at Huish Park.
Leyton Orient’s Russell Slade, former Notts County chief Keith Curle and Stuart McCall of Motherwell have also been linked with the post.
United, who have visited Malta for the past three years, would prefer to involve Wilson’s successor in the decision making process surrounding their pre-season schedule. However, circumstances could dictate they are forced to compile a programme in consultation with other members of the footballing department.

Reading various forums it seems we're still a bit in the dark over the pre-season escapades, I've heard everything from a return to Malta to a tour of Aberdeen and seeing as you lot seem a knowledgeable and informed lot I thought it may be worth enquiring as to what the likely destination is?

I for one wouldn't mind a week in Scotland, would maybe stretch to a week in Malta though it's a bit too hot for my liking!
