Pre season Wilder vs. Early Season Wilder

Just wondered for those that follow the pre season games much more than myself, based on the previous 3 pre seasons we've had with Wilder, how much of his team selections preseason indicate his thinking for his first eleven come the first handful games of the season? (I appreciate there are a lot of subs and changes from one game to the next but he still seems to stick with the same core).

Callum Robinson and Lundstram seemed to get a lot of game time last preseason and sure enough both were main fixtures in the team at the start of the season.

Just wondering is there likely to be any shocks this time round like there was with JL7 at start of last season? Is Callum likely to be back in the mix at the top end of the pitch?

I think Wilder still expects Robinson to go if the deal is right.

He still has a place for Lunny despite no one making offers for him. Which is a bit odd from Wilder as I would have thought the deal would be off the table by now.

Lundstram started every game of preseason right of a midfield three a year ago, and his selection in exactly the same position shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone – we even had suggestions on here that he was somehow a placeholder for a new signing there.

This season I do think is altogether less predictable though. Sharp and C-Robs have started because we’ve literally had no other available first team players. Preseason is a mess because of the nature of last season’s restart, quick turnaround, and need for internationals just as the domestic friendlies got going. I don’t think we can read anything from the lineup, other than to perhaps say that it’s looking unlikely there will be an adjustment to the midfield and that Berge will continue at RCM.
