Brian Smith front right and Cliff Powell next to Deano, didnt they both get serious injuries? Also simon webster at other side of deano. Remembet standing on the kop just behind the goal and he scored a header from edge of box...vs Huddersfield?

Yes, it is Alan Roberts, you have them all correct apart from front left. I dont recognise him, he might be a triallist

Just looked up in Denis Clareborough's complete records book. We had a player called Ashley Fenwick who came on as sub at a pre season match at Skegness Town so it must be him. Couldnt find anything about him in google.

Google search brought up a squad name of a player I have no recollection of, Darren Knowles.
Not many images of him, is it the same guy front left?

Silent Blade I think the guy front left is a trialist we had that pre-season. His surname was van Cleefe apparently (source - my dad)

Deano, only man who could bend an header.

I'm surprised Dempsey is in the pic. Bassett told him he didn't want him in the summer of 88 and he should find another club. He played a few reserve games at the start of 88-9 before going to Rotherham. Never a hint of a first team game, so surprising he went on pre season training.

Broke his ankle in a behind closed doors friendly match against Wendy a week or two later. Alan Harper caused it in a tackle. Towards the end of the season he had a couple of runouts in reserves matches before it was decided he had to retire from playing. A friend of mine who was a bouncer at Josephine told me he had to drag Wally away from confronting a terrified Alan Harper at the club. David Hirst and Imre Varadi were involved in protecting Harper.
