I don't think we had much breathing space against Ipswich. Drop points and Leeds would have been back in the driving seat. That O'Connell goal was basically like scoring in a play off final.
Disagree on this - we were 3 points ahead with a far superior GD - it may have felt closer than it was but we could have lost that Ipswich game and still gone into the Stoke game knowing a win would have been enough.

Leeds losing to Wigan put us in the drivers seat, losing at Brentford gave us the breathing space.

My favourite is the one who gleefully states we have never had the 'moments' they had had in the past 20 years and then reels off;

  • Beating Hartlepool in a league 1 play off final
  • Beating Wycombe to finish 2nd in league 1
  • Beating Peterbrough in a league 1 play off semi
  • Beating Barnsley in a league 1 play off final

That poster much have been under 30 while the fans over 50 are still talking about pigs in Europe and games from the 70s 🤣

It's genuinely like a parody. Insane that he wrote it, looked at it and still hit send

As always with these games a win would be amazing, a draw more than acceptable and if it’s a narrow loss like we suffered at pig lane I won’t lose any sleep, what I do always fear is something like that 2-4 shit ever again.”

🤣 this

The most predictable set of comments ever. I'd love to know who all these Blades are who think we're going to spanner them 4-0 cos I've not met any. The usual smattering of their weird obsession with the past. Since we won the FA Cup they've won the league (twice, 1929 and 1930) one FA Cup (1935) and one League Cup (1991). Hardly screams "global footballing powerhouse" does it? Especially since other than their one-off cup win 34 years ago, their last big win was 90 years ago, just 10 after ours.

Had some work done on my flat this week, both the lads doing it were ST holders at Hillsborough, and both were actually sound guys. All 3 of us reckoned it'll be a draw, probably 1-1.

Smelly bastards, I think we’ll get a draw at best though. Wilder will shit the bed again in this one with either team selection, subs or his behaviour.

Look mate, we might have had 3 promotions to the premier league, we might be about to do it again, and sure we’ve had fa cup and league cup semi finals, we have winning league one with 100 points, we had finishing in the top half of the premier league, but that all frankly pales into insignificance compared with Wycombe 12.

That is the Wycombe Wanderers, absolute behemoths of the modern game.

How can we possibly compete with that for a moment?

They think United should win as they are clear favourites. I can't find any bookmakers that share that view, they all have Wednesday as favourites!

Got to love the war and peace post that tries to argue all our wins and successes over them are hollow ones. The fact the nob has to go back to our grandfathers and great grandfathers to try and argue we have this supposed deep seated insecurity. In doing so unwittingly admits how long ago it was when they were relevant.

You could still buy mobile phones where you had to extend an aerial to get a signal.

It's projection at its most transparent. United have slowly destroyed him over the last 25 years and he's let it all out in one post

None of them have ever seen the Wendy in the prem...25 years and counting 😂😂

Certainly no one under 30 is likely to remember much of them being in the PL - and you probably have to be 35 to remember them being any sort of decent in the PL
