I don't know how either of you get to 13th. We've played 11 games and got 11 points. That's without even taking the cup games in to account.

8 losses and 3 wins out of 13 games since lockdown is horrific form. Baffled as to how I've just been called a plank for stating that. We clearly do have some amongst our fanbase though, that much is true.
The facts clearly state that we were 13th based solely on lockdown results. What don’t you understand about that fact?

Pig like arrogance levels. If only they could hear themselves.

Lads, you spaffed a fortune on bang average players last season, to scrape up by one point in the most controversial of circumstances. Your captain looks like a girl and spends most of his time rolling around on the floor, and your manager hasn't had a single original thought in his head since he managed in league 1.

They'll be chasing our exhaust fumes again this season.

They are honestly a really strange bunch. Another example of a fanbase assuming chucking money at things means they're going to do just fine. They've been doing it for years and years and achieved nothing in that time.

Looking forward to the game now.

They said the same last year.......we will see

Confident bunch, but then if we had their transfer window so would we be.

Really want us to smash them but this fixture does have a Newcastle away after lockdown vibe about it.

Trouble is got a bad feeling about Monday, hope I'm wrong

Cant be worse than the ghost goal.

Got a good feeling we are going to stuff them good and proper its our turn to shine and get some luck this time round.

Come on Roy, we both know I said our form since lockdown, not just 10 of the 13 games. And we both know you said our form over the course of a season would see us 13th, which that doesn't.

We've only played 11 league games post lockdown and you can't add the last one to see where we would be in a post lockdown table due to the newly promoted clubs. The facts are that we finished 13th in last seasons post lockdown table and even if you included the Wolves game, the points per game ratio has us surviving based on last seasons cut off point. I suppose it's what you class as a horrific. I'd take just over the point per game ratio that we had post lockdown right now because it would see us comfortable in lower mid table

Good God some smug fuckers about this game.Don't care how we beat these dbags as long as we do.

Remind me again did villa win the league last season .💩 team 💩manager

God they are insufferable. I really hope we smash them.

Also, I feel dirty for saying this, but I like Grealish. Yes he falls over (dives) a lot, but other than that I have a lot of time for him. Properly classy player, clearly lives and breathes Villa. I'm not going to unnecessarily hate him for being a young lad, millionaire, and having a twatty haircut etc etc. I would fucking love him in our side.

Well they've signed Watkins, Cash and the Arsenal Keeper, does that make them so much better than us all of a sudden? I'd say no, not really.
Yes it does imo; all three would get into and improve our starting eleven. Villa have improved massively on paper and we haven't. Watkins would score more goals for us than our current strikers and Martinez is a much better keeper than Ramsdale. Wilder must be depressed by what's happening at United, or more precisely what's not happening. The only chance we have of avoiding a relegation fight is Wilder himself. No chance will we finish above Villa this season. Whilst their fans' entitlement is annoying it's predictable. They always have been and always will be a bigger club than us.

I really don’t get the “Wilder must be depressed” argument. Show us any evidence of this.

He’s managing his boyhood club in the prem. Yes we can’t spend as much as some, but he’s known that since day one. And we’ve spent £60+ million. Every indication is it’s a challenge he’s relishing, not throwing his toys out the pram.

Also, we will finish above Villa this season.

That's true but no one asked for a post lockdown table. The fact is we've won 3 of the last 13 games, and our average points whichever way you look at it since lockdown is relegation battle form. When taken in the context of a team that was 5th by the exact same measure before lockdown, and the performances we've all seen on the pitch, it cannot be argued that we're in very poor form. The Villa fans are obviously going to come to the conclusion that we're beatable and will be in a relegation scrap based on that evidence. I can't see how that's a controversial thing to say.

Villa fans really are the deludamol fueld pigs of Birmingham, twice down there they have got of the hook against us and managed a draw. I really do hope we crush them to dust they shouldn't even be in the Premier League.

Look I get the worries and I share a lot themself myself but this idea we were horrific post lockdown last season (which is what some Villa fans are saying) doesn't stack up in any way. We averaged over a point a game. If we repeat that this season we will be comfortable and in The Premier League again next season which is the main aim.

The Villa fans talking about our post lockdown form as a reason to why they should be beating us when there's was worse is what I was initially pointing out

I don't know when you took those quotes from but I assume it's since the Wolves game? It's one point per game, which is not comfortable at all (worse with performances and cup results). You can't just discount the most recent results when looking at form. I happen to think we'll be absolutely fine, but those comments are exactly what people would be saying about Villa if it was the other way around.

Got to agree overpaying for players from the Championship don't turn them into top Premier League players overnight, What makes them suddenly better than us?
Watkins is no better than Maupay was and no better than McBurnie, as for Cash and the Arsenal keeper I think I'd prefer Bogle and Ramsdale any day.

But even if you include the Wolves result we still have a better post lockdown PPG. My issue isn't fans saying our form has tailed off, it undoubtedly has, but Villa fans using it as a reason to why they should be beating us when their form is worse than ours.

Martinez has hardly played for arsenal and both Cash and Watkins are unproven at PL Level. I would be surprised if Villa finish above us this season, they're dreadful

An excellent collection of comments, back to what opposing supporters thought 2-3 years ago. Or is that a re-hash of their comments prior to getting smashed to pieces two Septembers ago?

"Wilder is pointing fingers as to how unfair it is that we can pay what we did for Watkins."

He's not pointing fingers mate, just sticking to his mantra of not spunkin' munneh on wages etc. He has the Club's interests at heart and knows full well that we need to take things a step at a time, not throw the bank at it year on year and gamble for success.

Love it when other teams have already won 3 days before the match 👏👏....am immediately more up for it, and know the team will be!!!!......reading that will be like drinking ice cold Peroni to Chris 😋

Cheers Panchero!
