Pre-Match view from Spurs

Can't believe how few of them are saying 'We should beat them over 2 legs, but no room for complacency' etc etc.

Sure a couple are, but most seem to think it's done and dusted. There's a large chance they will progress, and a decent chance the match at BL will be a dead rubber, but quite a few seem to be taking it for granted that will be the case.

“If u knew anything about Spurs & Spurs fans then you know that most of us expect the worst. That said , you are 5th in the 3rd tier of english football, to hope or dare to think that we should win is no biggie .”

Seventh, actually. ;)

Gotta admit I laughed at the use of words from this poster

"I don’t think it matters which league they are in, this is death or glory for them, there will be no prisoners taken and if we switch off we could get penetrated up the tradesman’s entrance with no lube and definitely no reach round!"

Such Detail

A mixture. I know the forum you got the majority of those quotes from & the vast majority of posters are under-30 so i think that has to be taken into consideration. Good lads on there mostly (allowing for the exuberance of youth), very funny podcast as well. Around 50 of them will be at Dagenham to watch the Spurs v Wolves FA Youth cup game on Thur. Dedication.

To be honest it's the equivalent of us playing Woking in terms of league placing's and I imagine most of our fans would be acting similar.

Tell you what though collecting the quotes from a club with such a big fan base is different from collecting them for a club like Colchester where you are spending ages just trying to find any views at all!

Realistic. There are very few clubs in England that Spurs shouldn't expect to beat over two legs. They can paste Chelsea, we fail to beat Fleetwood.

That said, I think we can be competitive against them but we'll have to be at our very best to do so.

One thing I'd agree on is them not being afraid of going to BDTBL in any way shape or form, there is no way the atmosphere should faze a team used to European and International competition.

Cocky to me, but they are a decent sized club in the premier league.

Any Spurs fan who doesn't think getting to the final its a done deal is as deluded as our lot who think we wont win at Port Vale or MK Dons.

“when we lost to Pompey a few years ago, they were a premier league team, they now play in the same league as Sheffield United having lost every good player they had, so there is a huge gap in quality. "

Er, do they?

Nice to hear from the degenerate who paints us all with the same brush. At least most of us have a foreskin;).
PS. I also don't need to hide my bald patch:p.

My favourite part about that post was the mention of realism. Cock.

I don't blame them for thinking they're going to batter us. They should batter us and are in a good position to expect that they will. Not everyone needs to be as pessimistic as our fans.

As I said before the Southampton game, as long as they know they've been in a contest I'll be happy. If we can get back to the real Lane one goal down I'll be absolutely over the moon.

Now, now, let's not tar us all with the same brush. There are some posters on here who may fit in more at WHL judging by your standards there :p

I never really thought of the BDTBL atmosphere on a special week night match as being intimidating for the visitors, more that it gives our lads a bit more belief, a bit more energy and can sometimes give us a bit of impetus that isn't coming from the game itself. They can be as unfazed as they like, but they can't stop our lads responding to the crowd and raising their game.

I think the key for us is getting to half time tomorrow level. If they want to bring a lead up north they'll start to rush things second half and their crowd will get agitated. Having said that, if we trail by two, or three but we score, I won't be ready to give up on the second leg.

One thing I have gleaned from the Tottenham comments is that most southern computers don't seem to come with any kind of spell-checking software...

I don't really see how they are being cocky or arrogant. They have every right to expect to beat us easily.

Just like we would if we were playing a cup tie against Kidderminster or Halifax.

Are you telling us that BusheyBlade is an oxymoron?

They are right to be confident but if the unthinkable happens they will look like complete twats. Here's hoping.

I think our result against Southampton should give them cause to not get too carried away. We kept a clean sheet against them, and they have scored more goals than Spurs, as well as having a much tighter defence which we scored and created numerous chances against. They played a more or less full-strength line-up based on what they had available, albeit during their worst run in the season. If they are thinking 'well that won't happen to us', then let's hope their players and manager are thinking the same.

The French midfielder was part of the Toulouse side that lost to Marseille after extra time in the last four of the Coupe de la Ligue in 2010 – the latter side going on to lift the trophy that year.
With League One Sheffield United standing between us and Wembley this season, the 26-year-old is eager for us to see off the Blades – but has warned against complacency ahead of Wednesday’s first leg at White Hart Lane.
“It was disappointing to lose that game with Toulouse but the cup run was a good experience,” said Etienne, who was a late substitute in our 4-0 win over Newcastle in the last round.
“I think I’m more intelligent to prepare for our games against Sheffield United as a result of that match and I really, really hope we can go to Wembley.
“We are very excited about both games. We have to start well in this first leg, especially as we are at home, and be clever in the second leg in Sheffield.
“We have to respect Sheffield United. We know what they can do. If they are here in the semi-finals it says it all about their talents.”

They should beat us, and I expect they will, the key for me is restricting the damage and keeping the tie alive for BDTBL. However if the Blades feel like winning I will also accept that.

Anyone booked hotels for Wembley yet :)

A cockerel has every right to be cocky

To be honest it's the equivalent of us playing Woking in terms of league placing's and I imagine most of our fans would be acting similar.

To be honest Blades are never arrogant or over optimistic. I am sure if we were playing a lower league team we would be playing down our chances of progressing

Just hope this Spurs confidence will be a Spur to our cause

Read again.
I'd easily fit in at WHL coz i'm only small. Bit of Marmite round the old exposed pork sausage would not do as the crabs would be exterminated. (Now I am doing what you did not spot I was doing ironically).

That must be the make of shampoo that is required to wash the tar or whatever off from around your Bushey:eek:.

Either way who gives a dam if those Cup Tarts turn up and the Barbecue is in Hertfordshire in March. Get the wire brush out Bushey. Ken get ready to fire up your bakery.
