Pre-Match View From Southend

Did you watch Spurs the other night? They seemed to have a similar ploy to use Kyle as a decoy and switch the play to Rose on the left, although ironically the goals came from Erickson crossing from the centre right.
Chelsea kept packing their left, as if they had identified Kyle as the big threat, which meant Rose kept getting plenty of space (and he's a much better crosser than Kyle).

We could do a similar thing, getting Lafferty to attack a lot to drag them over but keep switching quickly over to Freeman. Then mix it up a bit by getting Lafferty to cut a couple back for Duffy to cross in.

Depending on how Southend are set up, of course.
oooo I can't bloody wait

I tend to think before most games, could be tough this game, they are this or that, have him up front or someone good in midfield, and then I find myself thinking yeah but this is a different United and I, without being cockey, feel we are going to play well and win, it would take a complete turnaround in form, which I cannot see happening for me to alter my view, of coure we could lose tomorrow but come the next game I will still have tge same confidence, still enjoying the journey

Those Swedish addresses...

Contact my comrade, Voronoff Enterprises and we'll get you into
one of clinics very soon.

That's LYDON & Voronoff.

And there's nowhere more appropriate for the (supposed) discerning male than Sweden. Stockholm is awash with blond porno-types, male and female, all with that glint in their eye of self-aware disdain that I've come to associate with the younger Swedish element.

Only O' Connell out of the back 5 will play tomorrow from the defence that played against them earlier in the season

Then

Long
Brayford
Hussey
Wilson
O' Connell

Now

Moore
Freeman
Lafferty
Ebanks Landell
Basham/Wright
O' Connell

True... but O'Connell did score an own goal and was at fault for one goal.

(However, it was his worst game for us and he has improved massively since.)

Titanic encounter lol maybe for them yeah. For us it's just another season in this shitty division playing against tin pots. God these last few years have took it's toll on me. I'm starting to sound like a grunter.

looking at that has given me flashbacks to the game, I'm gonna have to go for a walk

An away fixture that always gives me a sinking feeling. Crap ground in the middle of nowhere (miles from the admittedly dubious pleasures of the beachfront), pain in the arse journey, and nowt in the memory bank when it comes to happy memories of previous trips there.

I really fancy us tomorrow.
These will not be parking the bus like the last half a dozen teams we've played.
It's a midfield battle that I fully expect us to win.
Fluidity that I hope we have going forward and put them on the back foot.
However, I think our back three will have to be on there guard if Southend manage to get through the middle and lump it upto ranger. 0.2 blades.

C' mon United. Just sweep these plastic cockneys to one side.
Full steam ahead.......

I would add the penalty we conceded against Millwall as O'Connell's 2nd to be fair.
Still, he's been fairly solid since.

“I think our form and style has been excellent in recent months ( 12 unbeaten I think ? ) , but I also thought we looked a bit off the pace against Charlton and by all accounts the same yesterday.

That's what I like to hear. They're warming up nicely for a defeat after their long unbeaten run.

See!

And a bloody heavy defeat at that!
