That's why Billy has to start - if we can get the ball pinging around the box we'll know he'll get in the right place at the right time. Get a goal and we could end up with a few (as long as we don't concede).

My biggest concern is it'll turn into a classic SUFC vs PNE. In order words finishing 0-0 or 1-0 0-1. Need that early goal to rattle them. By the sounds of it, they'll then go to pieces.

Where’s the contribution from the closet S6 resident? They must be there somewhere they’re like forum KGB sleeper cells waiting for Roy to come calling.
What’s happening here no “always preferred Wednesday” or “only one proper team in Sheffield “ comments?

Games against Preston? Home games? League games? Games played on a Saturday? Games of Thrones?
Games that others in contention for automatic or play-offs (depending on where you see us) will win.

That point had never penetrated my thick skull so shame on me!

I'll lay off the abuse then, for a day or so.

Don't let him off the hook that easily. Rumour has it he's taken to sucking lollipops and tying a jumper round his shoulders. He was last seen in the cordoned off VIP area of INSERT SHIT, TRENDY TOWN BAR NAME HERE. He's been quoted as saying 'S2 4SU can help me jump start my career on Red Café, and any other Man United forum'.

You are right!.

He's now completely taking the piss reposting his old glories.

Probably at OT already ...

‘Games like this’ is one of the long list of football fans’ fallacies. I’ll guarantee that others in contention for promotion will all fail to win matches that they regard as ‘games like this’. Three of them will, nevertheless, achieve promotion.

It is a basic assumption that if you are good enough to get promoted, you must be good enough to beat the teams that are relegation contenders, i.e. those teams that are struggling to pick up points. If you are not, you won't get promoted. Whether you slip up a couple of times along the way doesn't change that simple, basic logic. Not a fallacy.

It is absolutely a fallacy, for the reasons I gave and which you have not rebutted. ‘Slip up a couple of times’ is your euphemism for ‘fail to win games like these’.

There are no ‘games like these’.

If your argument is that the promotion teams will lose a game or maybe two to bottom teams, fair enough. However, you can't lose very many and get promoted, so it is wiser to bank the games you can lose for the harder games. All wins are 3 points, so if you want to argue that you can get promoted by only losing to the poor teams and winning all the difficult games to good teams, then you're not wrong, but it's hardly dispelling a "fallacy".

Yes, keep on wriggling. I’ve made my point.
