Makes me laugh...”crap draw” - “boring draw” - “doesn’t set the pulse racing”

They sold out and want extra tickets.
That’s because of the excellent ticket prices and coach prices. £15 to get there and watch the game for ST holders, attracted many fans. Also, when sales get above 2,000 more fans want tickets because of the potential for a good away day.

Let's not forget blades took over 1200 to Ipswich in the previous round and earlier round and a longer journey . more than sure we would have took our usual 3 to 4k to deepdale in a reverse situation

I think the issue with the 'stewards' is that in front of the away fan they are bouncers not stewards, they have the id on their arms.

Think it was 3,300 at Deepdale. Would be around that again especially if prices were similar and at Deepdale you get allocated the whole stand.

I know ever fan wears rose tinted glasses when it come to their clubs.
But Preston identical to is us..Really?

"I certainly will not be going to Bramhall Lane.”

Oh, go on. Put it in your satnav & head off there. Then tell us how you got on.

Mainly sensible comments. Not sure why one of them thinks we are remotely similar (or identical I think he said) in terms of fan base!! At least someone put him right straight away.
I didn’t read it as he thought identical in terms of numbers. More the same type of fan. Northerners who stick by their team when it’d be easier to follow more successful clubs.

History wise, SUFC and PNE are pretty similar and most of the best bits were around the late 19th century ... we've won the cup 4 times, runners up twice and league once, runners up twice, they've won the cup twice, runners up 5 times and league twice, runners up 6 times. Obviously we've got a bigger ground and fanbase, but it's arguable they've got a better league and cup record for finishing in the top two. I'd also point out PNE have been to two cup finals since the war / in living memory for some (54 and 64), are there any Blades still alive who can remember the last time we were in a cup final?

Depends what utd turns up because if they play like we know they can. Should be comfortable. If we turn up like millwall or preston then say goodbye now. But with rested duffy & few others post norwich i think we should be fine & in 5th rd. Where bar man city probally spurs i think a few big teams are beatable

Now we dont have the distraction of wednesday 5 days later. I want to go as far as possible in this tournament

They keep the nicest for the Westfield, yet to meet a bad un there.
Sitting near the away fans as I do, they put all the bad ones there. It's really shocking sometimes how the fans are treated and usually have done nothing or very little wrong. I think they get a bonus every time the away team score and they can manhandle fans out of the ground.

Our stewards got a worse rap than we did!

Cheers Roy.

To be fair there one head steward who works the BLUT/Westfield. Many years ago when I had a ST in the BLUT during the noughties I snuck beer back to my seat in a coke cup. He saw me do this grabbed me and dragged me downstairs. He then said. "Look I saw what you did I should eject you, but just go back and say you got a bollocking" Fair play to the lad.

Anyway I still see him now, and say hello. He's probably the only sound steward but sound he is.

The away fans do seem to moan about our stewards quite a bit, but it is funny seeing a gown man get carried out by 6 stewards while trying to keep his jeans from slipping down his beer gut.

What's wrong with the stewards, what do they do?

They seem OK on the BLUT to me. Are they wankers to away fans, trying to make them sit down etc?
If away fans so much as put one foot pitch side they are pounced on, wrestled to the ground and virtually dragged/carried out of the ground. Which can be funny sometimes, but is way over the top. ffs mostly it's just the excitement of scoring:( against us which happens occasionally:(

I noticed the sudden decline of standard in stewarding around the early noughties. They went from being very passive, standing between the crowd and the pitch during the game, to being very pro-active and in your face, ushering people out at the end, pouncing on anything slightly out of the ordinary. Does anyone know if there was outsourcing or another company took over?

Bramhall Hall? That's just lazy and lacking in imagination.

I wish people wouldn't get so upset about people spelling it Bramhall. No, it's not right but it's an easy mistake to make and it makes us look petty and small minded. I'd much rather read respectful and knowledgable comments about us that contain the odd spelling mistake and typo than read some shit about us being a time wasting hoofball team, however well it's written.

“we have already beaten them once this season. Whoever does win this one could have affect on confidence when we meet in the league at Bramall Lane”

What? On April 28th? Plank.

Thanks Roygbiv

Now get back on the piss. :D

I have both kids scarves from when they were Junior Blades that we (along with everyone else I suppose) were given at the Christmas Party...2002 or 2003 ish. Good quality & I thought at the time it was a bit generous for Utd.... then I noticed the spelling of Bramall with an "h" !!

I couldn't disagree more. It they can't even be arsed to know where they are going to watch the game, then they are hardly likley to be offering "respectful and knowledgable comments about us".

Would you take someone seriously who told you they were going to Ann Field or Old Trifford?

ISC - 'petty and small minded, since 1963'

Given there's actually a place called Bramhall, so there is a legitimate alternative, I think it's just about acceptable. I have less of an issue about fans from miles away making that error than our own supporters using "Brooke's" or "Sharpe".

I hope I used the quotation marks correctly. I don't want to be accused of paraphrasing when I'm actually quoting.

Despite my natural pedantry, I fully agree with you on this one. The fact that the place not so far away is called Bramhall, and there are plenty of words which most of us pronounce without an h, but learn to write with an h, makes this one of the easiest of spelling mistakes to make ('hypercorrection' in the jargon - correcting something that was not wrong in the first place). And add in the fact that it was originally Bramhall Lane and only evolved into Bramall Lane in the late 1800s, presumably as a result of repeated mis-spellings, only adds to the confusion. We could surely be generous about this. However, when they call us Sheffield...
