They’re just a small Sheffield Wednesday!”

They really know how to insult us don't they?

Seriously have no idea where those comments are coming from. I genuinely struggle to remember any match we've ever played against them, without looking it up I can't imagine it being more than half a dozen?

Cant remember any games at home at all ,quite a few at the Manor Ground ,few punch ups in the jennell behind the away end ,on the pitch one bonfire night when one of my mates got ambushed. Horrible open air away end it was but always a good drink in Oxford before the game ,remember a push bike getting thrown through a window for some reason and their awful kit, but that's about it
Bobby Ford got his first goal for us v Oxford at the Lane in 1998.
He signed not long after our 4 2 win at the Manor that same season. He handled on the line to gift Deano a penalty.

Not sure what this supposed rivalry is all about - Swindon & Reading are Oxford's rivals.
Any "banter" can be instantly curtailed by bringing up the Thames Valley Royals - Fat Bob's vision of the future.

What a peculiar quirky breed they appear to be!

Anyway, this should settle it..

Billy Whitehurst is a Blade, is a Blade..he hates Oxford! :D

Adkins was always talking about endeavour.. Perhaps he had a crush on Inspector Endeavour Morse

I remember going to Oxford with a hangover on New Years Day 1990. It was our promotion season and I met an Oxford supporting mate from uni there. I had been telling him how good Deane and Agana were. We lost 3-0. As for Nicky Banger, I remember the amusement when he played for Southampton in the early 90s around the fact that his surname was pronounced Bainjer.

I remember in the 80s beating them 3-2 at home, Alan Young scored the best goal I've seen - an overhead kick from the edge of the area.

From the original post they don't seem to like us do they, mind you, to be honest I'm not that bothered about they, they are just another inconsequential lower league that we seem to cross paths with and her beaten by far too often nowadays

I remember that game but couldn't see Alan Young's goal very well as it was at the Lane end and I was stood near the front of the Kop.

Be good to hear a mention for Alan Hodgkinson before the game, he was Oxford's goalkeeping coach into his 70s.

I remember the goal ,it was brilliant ,I really liked Alan Young , he was a good player ,though having the same name as me helped :)
