I was working away from Sheffield in those days. Came over for the weekend really looking forward to the match. I was gutted to hear the news on the Friday that the game was under threat because of the bomb.

I was that desperate for them to sort it out that on the Friday night there was a Dempsey and Makepeace episode on about an unexplored bomb. I was in mindset that if it had only taken them an hour to sort it out surely they could get the one on Lancing Road sorted by kick off time the next day.

“Not bothering going. Can’t believe I`m not bothering to go to a roses derby on Boxing Day but I suspect I am not alone. This pathetic shambles of a souless side has finally broken me.”

After the whining cunts of Coventry, it's worth remembering that our fans are the finest in the land. Think they've had it hard? Not won anything of note for 91 years? Average home crowd last season - the lowest finishing place for 21 years - 19,803.

Santa chose red and white for a reason. :)

Being surrounded by a bunch of shithouse Northern mill towns like Rochdale, Bury, Blackburn and Burnley, you'd think their fans would do anything to get out of the hole that is Oldham.

I do feel for Oldham fans a bit. Despite our ups and mainly downs of recent years, at least we've had a bit of excitement.

19 seasons of mid table obscurity in the same league... I imagine some might even be looking forward to getting relegated just for a change of scenery.

That time we boycotted by filling the away end... Its the thought that counts though ;)
We did indeed and I helped fill it by boycotting the boycott.

As someone once said "Sheffield United, fu**ing up boycotts since 1889"

One of the most annoying games I've been to was the 3-2 home defeat to Oldham in 2012 after being 2-0 up. We were so much on top but a combination of bad luck and awful refereeing saw us lose the game. It cost us promotion because due to injuries and suspensions we lost the following match too.

That and losing our key striker for the last 4 games. :o

And here indeed is that very bomb - polished up and on show in Kelham Island Museum - according to them. Sorry it's sideways on - I guess it was like that when they found it :D

That is a shell for a battleship gun.
This is the Bomb you were talking about...

I was in London that weekend. Even though I was a part timer in those years, I was able to go to the match on the re-arranged date
