Sloppy thirds……
Could be an interesting game… I appreciate Naarwich might consider us easy pickings at this time, but wounded tigers can be dangerous…….

I don’t think Sheffield Utd fans would ever tolerate Wilder trying to park the bus at home to Norwich like Robins just did at the Britannia so I’m hoping Saturday will be a much more open game.”

lol…

Some of our fans would tolerate Wilder machine gunning fans in John Street and not hear a word against him

“Sheffield Utd are not a good footballing side, never have been. Unlike many on the bandwagon of doom I am not results lead. I obviously want to win….but I want a team with good footballing morals.”

Present this man with an honorary S24su membership. Would fit right in on here.

Who is the wounded tiger? We’re unbeaten and they’ve lost 3 already.

It should be a big test for us though as they have an attacking threat that we know well

I am old enough to remember a Norwich side coming here to play a Blades side who had no fit strikers, scoring after 10 minutes and then wasting time outrageously for the rest of the game

Not sure about that, seems a bit random.

But snipering the knobheads would be fine 😂

I can appreciate that any comment on the next match can come back and bite you on the backside.

But you look at their forwards and they’re kind of ‘ok’.

Brooks I did like and this one could go either way. I do wonder whether we play RND and just get him to kick him around a bit and not give him a minute or whether we think McCallum’s athleticism is the key; surely Wilder should have an idea from training. Slimane always seemed one of those players that might look alright if you give him time on the ball. So hopefully we don’t. Maghoma has barely registered with me.

Their central midfield looks pretty standard. McLean is 34 now an you’d really hope that a younger Peck and a more dynamic Phillips would win that battle.

There is a certain aura about them in my mind because they finished so well under Clément. But was that a bit of New Manager Syndrome? Their fans seem to acknowledge that they expected to see a continuation and simply haven’t.

One interesting observation when we discuss our own likely formation is to look at that of their opponents, Norwich line up 4-2-3-1 by the way:

Stoke (3-4-3) L1-0 - Norwich were largely the more creative aid but not clinical enough.

Burnley (4-2-3-1) W4-1 - double the xG and punished Burnley heavily for poor defending.

Millwall (4-3-3) L3-0 - Millwall murdered them more than twice the xG and it was already 2-0 when Norwich had a man sent off.

West Brom (4-4-2) L2-1 - again, double the xG of their opponent but lacked clinical finishing.

I just find it interesting that one of the systems we are debating saw them get an absolute hammering. 4-3-3 for the Blades this weekend?

So what does all that xg mean? They got one win from four and that was the last game.

Is something now clicking for them or did they just get lucky?

I used to like all the data when Jay and Beans used to do the podcast, it was used to emphasise a point, but it’s not an exact science and xG just seems made up to support a data led game, since that’s what people like nowadays

We were crap the other night, Bolton had much more momentum but we took a chance very late on after absorbing pressure.

I’d take that on sat

good footballing morals? I am hoping that means their defence will be taking the attitude of "after you sir..."
They only removed the term "ungentlemanly conduct" from the rules of the game in around 2005... must have finally realised there were no gentlemen left 🤣

Think this will be a season defining game,if it goes well,we could be in with a chance of 8th,go badly and I think we are in a mini league of 6-8 at the bottom. We need to show we are learning from mistakes and making progress, and against the standard of opponent we will mostly be meeting this season, plus looking to put down a marker on our home form, where we need to get the bulk of our points from and make it a fortress
Their game at Stoke,9 out of 10 times Stoke are not winning,Stoke got that one game, scored from a deflection and Norwich had good chances and massive possession,Brookes missed a one on one that seemed easier to score.
Have a feeling that our tactics could be like the Birmingham, defend our box and try to break, which I think would play right into their hands.Norwich look vulnerable when got at so I would like to see us go positive and take the game to them, and if it turns into a basketball game,so be it,just don't want a meek approach.
Norwich will look at our stats and think there are rich pickings to be had here and they would be right,Wilder may look at their Stoke game and think that's the way to get a result and park the bus, unless we have learned lessons that will be our undoing.
Be interesting also to see if Clement will go with his Marlon Brando look again.

My head says a Norwich win, my heart says we fluke a 2-1 win with epic proportions of time wasting and one of our goals being offside/a foul.

Let’s hope the players get that message if we go one up.
