Cheers Roy. They're a cheery bunch. Make sure they leave all belts and shoelaces at the turnstile.

Ditto on the kop that night and 15 years old. Best time ever for me as a Blade nothing we've done since (and there has been plenty) will surpass that night and that season for me.Thanks Roy.
Great references to 1971 game. Kop was rammed that night. What an atmosphere.
Great to be a 15 year old in those days.
Haha...superb stuff!![]()

17/4/1971 Blades 3 (Reece 2, Woodward) Birmingham 0 Before the match the Watford player in the photo below didnt really mean much to me or to SUFC. More of him later on in this post. There was one change to our line up from the last match, Geoff Salmons replacing David Ford who goes on the...www.s24su.com

But we would never have had that wonderful season with all those moments and memories.Three points for a win was introduced for the first time in 1981-82, it would have saved us from relegation to the 4th division if the new points system was introduced a season earlier!
Didnt enjoy 1981-82 season as much as I did in the promotions to the top tier. Playing football on Saturdays was another reason I was a Lane part timerBut we would never have had that wonderful season with all those moments and memories.
Sliding doors and all that
I was 10 & sat with my Dad, god bless him,on the cricket pavilion balcony, what a night, seems like yesterday, vivid memoriesI still say there was more than the 43,000 attendance figure that night back in 1971 I've never been in a crowd as packed as that. At HT we moved from behind the goal to the side of the kop and it was still packed there but at least it was easier to breathe. A lot of people watched from the cricket side and the old Pavilion.
Yes i was there what a night and i met my future wife in the buccaneer afterMe too, one of the best night matches I have ever been to. We were rampant & they resorted to dirty tactics with twat Warboys breaking John Hope's nose with a butt.

Didn't we just. I was 14 at the time & thought watching that kind of football at The Lane was always going to be that good, if only I had known! One of my favourite nights - we had a decent team
Don’t. Just don’tThis has got Rotherham at home written all over it for me. The expectation that we'll just turn and brush these aside is nauseating.
Summot in the air today, goal fest or tears, lets wait and see.![]()
