Pre-Match View From Bristol City

There's a Millwall fan who always posts on here when they are playing us. He says we always have a bigger following at their place than Wendy.
They always seem to struggle to sell tickets for Elland Road yet their fans seem to "Give it large" at places like York and Doncaster. Has anyone got any ideas why this is?
There is no doubt wednesday have a really good away following, so do we. However at the "tough" away days we show up.

Thanks Roy - this thread always makes my Friday night unless we are playing at home. Friday is normally a quiet night in at my age.

The guy who posted that comment has been a member of that forum since 2012.

He's obviously not a Wednesday fan.

He's probably a member on every clubs forum that we've played for the last few years
Funny how he or somebody like him always turns up with a similar view no matter who our opponents are.

Fans don't really care who brings the most away supporters, they don't really remember either, unless it's a staggering amount.
Do we really care who brings 12 more fans between Forest and Derby...….No we don't give a toss and it never gets a mention.

Most fans also have sufficient brain cells too fathom out that clubs will bring a lot of supporters if the game is vital and they won't bring so many if it's a run of the mill fixture on a Tuesday night.
The terminology, subject matter and constant boring untruth is the work of a pig constantly trying to brainwash the support of other teams fans, such is their pathetic instability

I lives in these parts and all I can say that over the years I have bumped into quite a few blades but only ever one owl

Hate to say it but Wednesday do take more away than us, last year QPR, Millwall, Reading fans I know all said the same. Even this season a Sunderland mate commented how poor our turnout at Boro was compared to the Pigs at their place for a crappy cup game on tv. Whilst our home attendances are closer than ever, I don't think the away support is. I would be surprised if we sold more away tickets than them last season but if i'm wrong tell me.

Can you back that up with solid facts rather than someone you know said it so it must be true? For us QPR away and Reading away was midweek and Millwall away was a pre Christmas December game.

You mean when they were in the Championship and we were in League One ?
Nice comparison

Our away average was 2,444 during the promotion season in league 1.
It would would have been higher than Wednesdays, even though they were in a higher division, if it wasn’t for the stadium away end restrictions. We also sold out more away allocations during that 2017 season.

That’s a great “view from” there .. thanks roy lad..

Hope thier manager isn’t reading that..

Player of the season, Nottingham Universary Law Society Football FC, 2005/06. The pedigree is there.

I was there about 20 years before you and we always had a few ding dongs with the Lawyers on a Sunday morning. We had about 7 reliable regulars and the rest of our team were recruited the night before at parties using arm twisting, bribery or blackmail.

In my case, the pedigree most certainly wasn't there, unless you meant the dog food.

I have family in Bristol who are City fans. They were quietly shiting themselves when I got there last night.

Do you write for the Stir?

It’s funny how away following has suddenly become the Pork’s holy grail since our home gates have been better than theirs (not closer), 2.4k as it stands.

This was last season’s away support rounded to the nearest 10.

Average Championship away support 2017-18
1. Leeds United - 2970
2. Aston Villa - 2780
3. Wolves - 2730
4. Sheffield Wednesday - 2470
5. Middlesbrough - 2190
6. Sheffield United - 2170

There was a whole 300 in it over the season, was done Piggies. You can see why away fans and you mate would notice such a MASSIVE difference. :D

I played for Lenton (before it was merged) since reading Chemistry meant you couldn't train for the Uni team.
Might have been a similar time to you Coco.
Scored the decisive goal in the inter halls championship game in 86.
Bullet header, top corner, from the edge of the area after a flick on from a throw.
Few beers sunk in the Lenton bar that night.
