Does anyone really class this game as a Derby?

How many derbies can one club possibly have?

The Sheffield Derby (our only real Derby).
South Yorkshire Derbies (too many to bother)
Yorkshire Derby? (Meh)
Northern England Derby (surely next?).

I wouldn't put Bradford high up on the list of bastards who I want us to thrash every time but I do enjoy these encounters.
Being from the same county (historically) and having a sizeable and pretty decent support, theres usually a good atmosphere.

The size of the crowd may be due to their progressive season ticket pricing policy... One to be applauded.

Take heed and learn Mr McCabe as another season at this level may need the adoption of such a policy.

Either that or please get some quality ale in, as we will really need some compensation for the product on the pitch.

I'm getting fed up of being patronised with what the love of my life is offering me...

When you look at the prices Leeds and SWFC have been charging it's clear SUFC have had a progressive ticket policy for years. Ticket pricing is one beef we should never have with McCabe, attendances have steadily grown under his stewardship.

I'd definitely agree with that.

The price of tickets in England is scandalous, an absolute disgrace.

But in the context of English football, I think United have generally done right by the supporters, and that's been reflected by the numbers.
For example, when I had my first season ticket 16 years ago the average attendance was 13,000 in the 2nd tier. Now we're usually just shy of 20,000 in the 3rd.

We also frequently come top or thereabouts in the 'value for money' surveys every season.

So although I often feel utterly ripped off by the shit I see on the pitch, I certainly don't feel like I've been fucked over by the club in it's treatment of the supporters.

Whilst I think prices should be discounted for kids, pensioners etc I would rather pay more if it meant the Board would spend more on building a better team.

I don't hear too many pigs complaining about their ticket prices any more now they have spent millions on building a decent team. I hate them with a passion but it is disappointing to see them doing what is needed whilst we just amble along in L1.

It will be interesting to see what they say and how many turn out to watch when the rip off prices are filtered down to the pigs season ticket holders.

Lads,

No beef about the match ticket prices in context of league one. They're reasonable in the UK context.

What I was trying to say and if done badly, I apologise, was that Bradford sold 17500 season tickets by offering them at £149 early doors. The strategy aimed at developing fans of the club, avoiding young uns looking elsewhere for teams to support, selling food, drink and regalia on match day and of generating a support that would get behind the team, hence the good atmosphere comment.

My point was more about the need for us offer more on the pitch or those who only come on certain days will reduce. However, if they had a reasonably priced season ticket that may persuade them to go to some of the less attractive games.

About the only thing United do have going for them right now is the support and the quite frankly, amazing belief that the fans of this club have. To keep that going it may require some creativity over season tickets IF we stay here next year and that may be something Mr McCabe wants to think about as he approaches the JTW.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for Bradford as a city and club. We think that we live in the shadow of fucking Leeds, so spare a thought for Bradford who've almost been erased from the map. Think they are the fourth biggest club in Yorkshire (ahead of Hull) and I admire their ticketing policy.
But this is the sort of match the Blades should stamp their authority on. A run of results, a bumper crowd, new gritty style, and old trafford places to play for. The stage is set for a Blades win.

Hard to disagree with that statement.

Bradford is no more a derby match to me than Oldham or Huddersfield.

It's a big game as we are both knocking on the play off door.

They seem very excited!

Just wait till their hoofers come up against our grinders. And then Billy secures a late 1-nil for us with a one-yarder in off his flabby arse. That'll knock all that silly excitement out of the tossers :D

Are our lot on grinder then!?!?

Can't make it tomorrow as I'm yomping in Peak District with our Gert. Had a ticket for Wigan sob.

Looks like being a good gate tomorrow. Enjoy

Defining what a derby game is curious as to me the definition should be "the game both sets of supporters want to win above all other"

However using that definition Man Utd vs Man City and Liverppol vs Everton would not qualify as Liverpool fans would want to be beat Man Utd more than Everton and Man U fans would want to beat Liverpool more than Man city.

We've got 20,000 to turn up and watch utter shite for 5 years in the third division.

Throughout years of utterly pathetic leadership, pricing is one thing McCabe has got right.

And Bradford's pricing policy is really the road to the poor house.

While getting close to 20,000 each home game is brilliant lets not forget since relegation from the premiership we have lost 10,000 supporters or 33% of the fans we could be getting each home game, by any standards that is a huge loss, How many companies could stand to lose a third of their customers ? All the good work by McCabe and Warnock in building up the club has been frittered away and in everything apart from attendances we are worse off now than when McCabe took control of the club.

There's only really three games that get the juices flowing for me. 2nd is Forest and 3rd is Leeds.

No they didn't

If we offered £149 season tickets next season we'd be getting 32,000 at home for cold November mid week night games against Fleetwood. It would be ridiculous

I must admit I've always found matches against Bratfud a bit tasty but it's not a derby. There's only one fixture that gets the adrenalin going and puts an unsettling feel in the stomach. Every time those fuckers attack during our matches its nail biting time. The noise levels at those games is only matched during exceptionally special matches eg semi finals etc
