“im not as sure of 3 points as a lot of others. Getting promoted isnt going to be easy with all the contenders that can beat any other team on thier day. so no game is a gimme. youd prefer to play them three or four months in. they will be full of confidence after thier win last week and for me are the best of the 3 teams that came up. thier top marksman is already off the mark and they will have a good away following im sure. Given al these points i still think that if we play close to our potential we should have too much for them and it is our opening home game too . but any below par performance will be punished.
one player they have that has impressed me each time i saw them on tv last season was O,Connell”

This man speaks sense!

I can say, without any fear of contradiction, that in all my decades of supporting United, Middlesbrough have never sold out their allocation of tickets for a fixture at Bramall Lane.

The Saturday evening home match in the Premier League, when they brought less than 2000, stands out as very obvious comparable to this Saturday.

Nice stuff weird one. Bit banal this week, nothing too controversial or provocative.

That last post though. Eloquence and such a poetic turn of phrase. Who knew Betjeman was a smoggie?

fairly well rounded view, they seem to think they should win, given that last season there was 2 divisions between us, but give us respect and don't expect a walk over.
given the billy big bollox attitude from the grunters, this lot come across quite reasoned.
and anyone that rinses the pigs for £10mil in return for "Rhodes to nowhere" gets a like from me.

SUFC getting trolled by fucking Middlesboro for not selling out.

Also comments like "no disrespect but we should be beating teams like Sheff Utd", boils my piss, cheeky smoggy twats!
to be fair, if we'd been relegated from the prem with the budget that accompanies it, i would expect us to beat a newly promoted team, irrespective of their points tally.
add to that the fact we haven't signed any big names, they are expecting a bunch of div 1 players - which isn't incorrect of course. However what anyone who hasn't seen us under wilder fails to know is it's the sum of all parts that count, hope their management are as dismissive, but doubt it - unfortunately!

Indeed he does!

I was more worried last week than this, on the basis I like to play relegated teams early on as they are, usually, still on a downer from last season and it takes a while for that to leave them. Add a new manager to the mix (like us last season) and it's a double whammy. If they are the best team in this division, as spending suggests they should be, then being their first home game is the ideal situation for us (whilst obviously not guaranteeing anything!).

To be fair to that Jake lad, he's done some cracking fishing there. They're Newcastle 'casuals' (*snigger*) I believe.

Always thought Boro were the worst out of the big 3 from the North East. They have a large catchment area when you consider they have one team for the whole of Cleveland which has a population of 556,000 - according to Wikipedia granted. They tend to get about 17,000 averages, other than when they excel and end up near the top of the Championship and I never recall their away followings from been that large, although they were vocal from memory.
