Think I would rather see us give as much game time to Reed and Whiteman, even Brooks.

Reed is going to learn to track better after the goal against Crewe.

Coutts isn't going to get to 27 years of age, not be inclined to track back then all of a sudden add this consistently to him already developed game.

Hammond is also not likely to gain more 'legs' or stamina over the next twelve months.

I'm not saying Reed and Whiteman are the answer. They just might be. Coutts and Hammond definitely aren't. To have them in the team you need to compensate with the rest of the selection in what they can't do. That's too much of a luxury for what they contribute (or don't contribute).

But he is not a holding midfielder.....who stays where he is to plug the gap in case Whiteman or Reed lose posession. Seems funny how the score altered when he went off. Ide make Hammond Captain next season and build round him. He,s a class player. We all hold different views which is what makes it a great game. I totally respect yours.
You'd build the team around a 33 year old who often can't see out a full 90 minutes?

Crewe as all teams in their position, in this league or any division are fighting for their lives. It has happened for years. Its part of football. Stats go out the window. Worst teams to play at this time of the season. Crewe might put a good run together fighting relegation at The Business stage of the season. However they are not good enough for various reasons to sustain it for the whole season.
From where have we officially read or heard that the players don't like Adkins? and if so why?. I would find that interesting . As would Adkins I feel. Is it because they cant do what he tells them.
The teams that he got four promotions with must have been able to do it. Cant be a coincidence surely 4 Promotions. Cant Motivate.?.... Into Premier League as well, and Scunthorpe so not all top class players..Ide say that was a vast knowledge of different types of players.......Hammond for Captain .Build a side round him. you know it makes sense.

Think ile stick with Adkins. Much safer .

I think Adkins is edging on the side of the supporters that don't want him to sign, I say this because he is bringing him off earlier recently and only playing him due to lack of options there. At least that's what I'm hoping for anyway. Build a team round Hammond when he had a full set of legs, yes, i would then agree but not now, we need someone more mobile in there, someone who can get about the pitch and play at least a few telling balls and can also chip in with the odd goal, someone with a possible resale value on the plus side, there has to be someone out there for our scouts to pick up?

We were 2-0 up. It could've been 5-0. Should've been 3-0 or 4-0.

Instead Crewe came back to 2-2.

I've watched, played for, and played against plenty of teams whose heads would've dropped at this stage - but credit to Whiteman and Reed in particular for keeping at it, and for their part in the winning goal.

(There's something there with DCL but I don't think it's clicked yet.)

Reed was definitely culpable in their equaliser, but as posted in the Interview thread - to some extent this is what you get, inconsistency: infuriating one minute, inspired the next.

Plenty to build on.

I think that is a disappointing comment, though maybe understandable. We all have our own motivations/needs perhaps for spending time on here.

I suspect WHF is taking personal responsibilty for redressing some sort of balance in the utterances on the forum and perhaps even regards his role as lifting the morale of everybody on here. I do it when I think McCabe and the prince are getting unfair stick (in my view of course).

WHF is backing Adkins for his own reasons. It does not help his cause if he chooses bad examples to support but I respect his efforts. Whatever we may think about his credibility, the debate is healthy and his views can test our own views on occasions.

We all hope that Adkins will succeed but backing him with poor arguments for the sake of it at this point in time does not help that much. Adkins knows we are in a mess but can't admit more than he has done already to us or the Board. He will get his year or so to turn it around.

With regard to Hammond though, that single issue could just possibly lose him his job sooner rather than later. If he insists on signing Hammond on a contract then McCabe might not fancy them both that much. Contrary to popular belief McCabe does attend matches and does know his football.

Holding midfielders dont run around like blue arse flies. They supply the ball to people like Reed and Whiteman.Mostly simple passes. If they get it wrong after receiving who gets it in the neck.mmmmm The Holding Midfielder. Monty got it. Gannon got it. Booker got it. Rogers got it. Doyle got it. Hockey got it.Speight got it........Seems to be a pattern forming.

We need a midfielder with a target tattooed on his neck?

This sounds like it's getting personal but fwiw I'm not backing Adkins or Hammond or Sammon or McCabe or the Tea Lady (bless her). That would be blind loyalty.

I'm just making the best case for the club as I see it. And plenty of other people share these opinions

And as for recent Hammond discussions they were in part instigated by I think Finnieston who even advocated building a team around him.

A brave post :-)

I think with all the waiting , chasing and expectations with Hammond , we perhaps saw him as this missing link who would pull the team together and be this missing conduit this season for success ,. It's not worked out and perhaps Adkins was seeing the guy from his past .
If Adkins stays , he signs Hammond , McCabe has stuck with Adkins , his decisions on recruitment , and we have to do the same .

The best case for the club is that we carry on supporting them . Simple.

UTB.
