Just done a quick tot up of all the games scheduled between now and the first weekend in November....

3 games each during that period....Non-PPV based on BT or Sky coverage, PPV based on BT & Sky Box Office

3 PPV games:
West Brom / Villa / Fulham

2 PPV games:
Burnley / Leicester / Brighton / Palace / Sheff U / Southampton / Chelsea

1 PPV game:
Leeds / Wolves / Spurs / Man U / Newcastle / Arsenal / Liverpool

0 PPV games:
West Ham / Man City / Everton

It's going to go on for months though, I think that is the issue people have.

Its steep for sure and i wouldnt pay it, but as a concept im not sure its that outrageous tbh.

Also, not sure how its affecting the grassroots. I agree something needs to be done in that regard, dont see how this shafts it further?

But it's additional games that WERE being shown. And it's additional games that have seen lots of people subscribe to Sky because it was the only way to access it. And now that I and others have gone back to a Sky subscription they're jacking up the price to the tune of £15 a week thereabouts. At a time where lots of us are feeling financial pressures from struggling businesses, lost revenue, redundancy, or just a straight 20% missing from your pay through furlough.

The sad thing is that even with all of that I'm so hooked on football I'd have paid extra. I'm not sure where the line in my head is drawn but I'd have paid a fiver and I'm definitely not paying fifteen.

The thing to remember is that all the games are already being recorded in high def and broadcast around the world. Aside from the hiring of an obnoxious commentary team the costs are minimal and yet one game is valued at an additional third of my monthly package. I'm being asked to pay more for a game five miles from me than someone a thousand miles away. The price I'm being offered isn't proportional to the product.

I hope all the people saying they won't pay for this stick to their guns because poor sales are the only way for us to get a reasonable deal as fans.

PPV is the thin end of the wedge it will signal the end of football as we used to know it, let's just see how many lower league clubs go tits up as well. I've said it for ages I hate the PL but we are in it so have to go with flow, what pissed me off is Arsenal made 27 redundant blaming no money, day after signed someone on a mega fucking contract DISGUSTING.

It is disgusting but I'm certain that Arsenal's budget for buying players isn't the same pot that the run of the mill backroom staff who got made redundant is in.. Anyone can buy Sky PPV's through a separate website so you don't even have to sign up to Sky to get these games so no one is out of pocket and again this hasn't been a Sky/BT decision. They just have the easiest platform to host at short notice.

However if a match was so massive that I was desperate to see it then I would pay £15.
Ironically our next game against is one of our most important in recent years.
It’s also Brewster‘s debut so it is a match I’m desperate to watch.

So normally I’d never pay £15 but on this one occasion I’m defintely paying the £15.

It's an entertainment industry which generates billions of pounds a year, so it's only right that the people we pay to watch are paid a decent wage to reflect that. Now £300k a week is a hell of a lot of money, but I'd rather players got a good chunk of the money generated than the club owners pocketing the cash.

You could argue that stars in the music and film industries are paid too much money, based on the amount of work they do, but again it's an entertainment industry and the best will always be paid huge sums of money based on the amount of money the industry generates. It seems that footballers are an easy target for whatever reason, but then no one bats an eye lid when multi-millionaire Mick Jagger pockets another few million when he goes out on tour.

I have a similar situation with some suppliers, who want to sell me stuff for me to retail whilst selling the same stuff on the internet themselves, at knock down prices, which makes them my direct competitors. "Oh, that's not us, that's the web sales department." No, it fucking well is you. It's the same company, I don't give a flying how you've decided to divide up your company internally, you are trying to sell me something that your own internet shop sells at a price I can't compete with.

If a football club decides to divvy up its wages expenses into two pots, a big one for players wages and a smaller one for backroom staff, that's entirely their internal administration. It doesn't make it right, it doesn't make it sensible, it doesn't justify firing a handful of staff whose wages are insignificant compared to the players' wages.
To use your analogy, if a club can't afford to buy a few less-essential food items, maybe it should reconsider taking out yet another mortgage extension to build yet another wing of the stately home.
I know you've also said you also find it disgusting; I'm not having a go. As I say, I've had this discussion with suppliers. And Amazon, for that matter.

Honestly, the Premier League is making me fall out with football. Look we had VAR introduced last year, which to be honest was probably the biggest negative of our season (worse than after lockdown). Then trying to introduce a new scheme by Man Utd and Liverpool's American owners - which thankfully was rejected. Then after a pandemic where we have the worst unemployment in years, they decide it's financially feasible for a working-class sport to charge £15 per game (not even a weekend pass which I could accept). Anyone, who has lost their business or job will not have £15 expendable cash every week to go to the Premier League. The way football is going to make people resent it and fall out of love with the game.

I've got IPTV on it but football has been terrible since lockdown. It buffers every 20-30 seconds. Not sure if it's my provider, my internet or what but since June, footy has been unwatchable on it.
