Just a little rumour and nothing more but speaking to an old friend at the QPR game (home tie). He says United have been in talks for months with Red Bull (yes the energy drink company) about some sort of takeover at the Lane.

I must stress this is just a rumour but he says its from a reliable source and the fella who told me isn't one to spew crap, he's normally very well informed and knows people higher up at the club so im not ruling it out.

Apparently its been very much confidential and under wraps but these things always get out of the bag somehow. Its no secret we have been looking for investment and we know Birchy is good at that - might have been brought in for influence and negotiation skills, who knows I could speculate forever.

Just thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss.....

Really? Fair does. I hadn't seen it on here so I thought I would raise it to see if anyone else had heard. Im not normally one for rumours and gossip. It was where it came from that got me thinking to be honest.

We may have had this before.
The deal may have stalled after selling Cotts.
If it goes through we will start playing wide because Red Bull gives you wingers.:D

 I know its sad but I thought that was funny. Bravo Sir.

Does that mean more wingers and less whingers??

Would be good IMO, look at the money they have thrown at F1!

Too right. Theyre are massive company (a whale in fact). We would be the richest club in the championship if that takeover happened. You could argue QPR but their situation is a little convoluted.

They took over a club in Austria. Re-named them Red Bull Saltzburg. Changed club badge from traditional one into a can of Red Bull and took traditional purple ( I think) kit and put them in Blue and Silver.

Here's hoping...

Read all about it here

Would anyone want Red Bull on those terms, no matter how much money they pumped in?

"Like Sheffield Red Bull
Come thrill me again...."

They can ask us to wear fucking mickey mouse ears if we get that sort of investment!!!

I know what you're saying though, I certainly wouldn't like to think a company comes in and changes your identity but I don't think McCabe would let that happen. He's made it clear in the past that he would only allow a takeover if that buyer had the club's best interests at heart and would stick with the Blades ethos. I think the McCabe family and their colleagues would maintain heavy influence as well.....

So im not too worried about anything un-toward.

Made these for the original Red Bull rumour:

If true, this image switch is kind of the opposite of what we did in China, where the Chengdu Blades used to be Chengdu Five Bull (a cigarette company).

I wonder how they feel about it...

One thing i have just remembered, trevor birch was brought into chelsea just before the abramovich takeover... ;)

Makes sense some investment coming in as the club is in good condition compared to some others.
Who would want to deal with the unclean's leader who is lower than a rattlesnake's belly in a wagonwheel rut.

would love to get that sort of investment at the blades but cant have any sort of name change. could build us a new ground and call it watever lol

The way it's looking at the moment regards our finances, academy recruits and lowering the wage bill to somewhere similar to wendies, I wouldn't bank on any investment any time soon.
