Possible summer targets

I think Marcus Maddison is the real deal...but sadly, probably out of our price range.

Not too sure if he would be out of our price range. He's on the last year of his contract and the chairman is well known to sell players while he can still get a fee for them rather than let their contracts expire. Might be worth a bid just to see what happens.

Marcus Maddison

Ripe for the step up to the championship..

Posh chairman will hold anyone after him to ransom though like he usually does!

Luke Berry.. centre mid for Cambridge, in the L2 team of the season, another one I reckon can play higher up.

:)

There are a lot of good goalscoring midfielders in L2 with McGeehan, Berry, Carey and Potts.

As for Maddison, he has quite unique ability, and is surely a Premier League player in waiting if he can round off some rough edges and add more consistency. Very few players can dribble it at speed like him and attempt some of the things he does. He's quite a selfish player but you can see why he tries the things he does.

Alan Nixon suggested that we could have the odd 'splash', Maddison would be a good one I think. He'd only gain in value under good management.

He and Peterborough haven't had the best season so I hope that puts off the Championship's big hitters, whilst ensuring the price isn't more than £2.5m.

A signing of Marcus Maddison's stature would be a real sign of what we're aiming to do next season. Fantastic talent. If we're gonna go for one 'splash' this summer I hope it's him.

If the Blades did go for Maddison then Wilder would polish him up even more and give him the total team ethic thats part of the beautiful brand of football thats pleased everyone this season absolutely :)

His assists tally isnt that shabby anyrate considering, and he looks so versatile, can pop up anywhere!

As you say, value wise hmm, 3-4m but potentially in a couple of years you'd quadruple it if he ends up a Prem player.

Worth a try...It's that usually Peterborough get zillions for their players...

Ahhhh ...... no !!

You see when a higher level Club comes in for one of your players ....... you just can't say no. o_O

We've been told this many times so there shouldn't be a problem if we do want him ...... we simply put in a bid and he's ours .......;)

Hey up......

Have a lot of dough, eh...? Hope he's right.

There's nothing in that, he's basically saying we'll have to pay a lot of money if we want him.

Given recent links and suggestions I would like to see the following arrive:-

Adam Smith
Jason McCarthy
Byron Webster
Joe Riley
Tom Adeyemi
Ched Evans
Lee Gregory

Regarding Maddison, he's got 2 years left on his contract and according to wiki on the transfer list. He'd be a top signing.

Go on then I'll post my current wishlist.

Neil Etheridge/Adam Smith - Free
Ryan Bennett - Free
Jason McCarthy - Loan / 250k compensation
Amari'i Bell - Free
Tom Adeyemi - Free
Marcus Maddison - £2.5m
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing - Free
Sam Gallagher - Loan / £2.5m

Every position on the pitch covered there with a lot of quality and good free transfers.

Ryan Bennett is a good name to add to this thread, surprisingly released by Norwich. Established centre half and probably the level of player we should be aiming for, good age too at 28.

Tom Adeyemi
is another good shout I think, seems to have done well at Rotherham and is the type we should go for in midfield - decent athlete, quite young, can defend and would probably sign without being guaranteed a starting place. Think he's out of contract but not sure.

As loan options go some young Chelsea players like Lewis Baker attacking midfielder, two footed and very talented, Kenedy somewhat unrealistic but would perfectly fill the Left-Wing back role and didn't get a game on loan at Watford this season. Fikayo Timori would be a good right sided centre back and went on loan to Brighton as a squad player in Jan. If we are still looking at strikers then a pacey option like Chuba Akpom/ Jerome Sinclair or Adam Armstrong. Grant Hanley from Newcastle never played for them too much but would only be realistic as a loan deal.

Some decent shouts there I think, there have to be some good players in those PL development squads, I'm sure we'll be aware of them.

I thought about Akpom too, he might be gettable. Another one could be Izzy Brown, on loan at Huddersfield now, was at Rotherham, and seems a very impressive young forward.

since everyone else is doing it i'll do it (not gonna mention ched cos he's a done deal anyway) heres who i would like to see us sign (at least a few of these in the summer

Neil Etheridge/Adam Smith - i've seen etheridge play a few times and personally think he should be at least mid championship he's a damm good shot stopper no surprise walsall have gone downhill since he got injured, but wilder will know a lot about Adam Smith and what he can do and he's younger

Ryan Bennett - experienced CB for free

Jason McCarthy - young CB/RB on loan

Joe Riley - been mentioned that he's coming back and thought he looked quite good against Bristol Rovers

Tom Adeyemi - free been one of the only (perhaps the only) good player at rotherham this season

Marcus Maddison - one of the best prospects in league 1, Wilder giving him good man management would turn him into a proper team player fee may be large though

Josh Scowen - bit of a utility player, a midfielder who barnsley have been using at RB for a part of the season and out of contract in the summer

Ben Pringle - not getting in the team at preston, class player for rotherham in their first championship season, also nicknamed the "pig killer" as he always scores against the pigs, very good left foot on him

Lee Gregory - he has played in the championship before and has been back among the goals for milwall recently, wouldn't be difficult to get him to want to come here either

Danny Ward - good striker for rotherham, will definitely be leaving them in the summer, would command a decent fee though

I think people are over thinking this new keeper stuff. We have to have someone who came through our academy in the 18 next season. I can't see that being anyone other than George Long as I can't think of another?

Whiteman could feasibly make the squad if Wilder thinks he is up to it. He has had an exceptionally good loan spell, albeit in league 2.

he's come off the bench a few times for us this season as well before he went out on loan so he's already had a look at him during games

Someone on loan from Man Utd. Guarantee it.

Norwich have released some players:

Sebastien Bassong, Steven Whittaker, Ryan Bennett, Michael Turner, Youssouf Mulumbu and Kyle Lafferty

Don't think you will get McCarthy and Gallagher for 2.75 probably more 5 to 6 Gallaghers got double figures for Blackburn.
Coming from a premier club and the fact he's scored a few for a club in the relegation zone they will want a lot more than 2.5

£2.5m is probably the lower end of the scale for Gallagher. I'd say between £2.5m and £3.5m is likely. Or a loan. I'd rather send him out on loan again if I was Southampton.

If McCarthy's contract expires it will be a compensation figure and they usually aren't that much. If they extend his contract it could be 500k+.

Just think the money's gone a bit daft in the championship and can see a club like villa offering a silly amount of money for him would love to have Gallagher though think has a bit of everything.
