Positives?

The only positive I got yesterday was from my lateral flow test which meant I missed being there. I did however watch it on sufc tv and the monotonous tones of Kevin gage made being riddled with COVID a more appealing option.

If you watch United in the expectation of success, you’ll be disappointed. But given you’ve been a regular for 20 years I very much doubt that’s the case. In that time we’ve been far far worse than we are now - the Wilder years aren’t the norm.

So I think the question is for you. Why did you start going? What’s different now?

Yep, absolutely true what you say, it's definitely not about the standards on the pitch, as the Weir and Adkins seasons were far, far worse.

It's more a case of beginning to dislike football in general. I used to enjoy the sport at every level, and would watch any football I could in my spare time, regardless of whether the Blades were playing or not.

The diving, gamesmanship and general commercialisation of the game used to bother me mildly, but now it really annoys me, especially as United have got more and more caught up in it all.

There's also the players; it doesn't bother me that they're well paid - I'm pleased that they're compensated for their talents. The only problem is that they don't seem to be people anymore, it's almost like they become big businesses themselves. Very few come across as relatable or compelling; probably down to the influence of management, agents and PR people. It's a miracle if you manage to get more than tired clichés in a press conference.

Someone mentioned going to watch Hallam, and I think it's a good suggestion to be honest, I'm walking distance from the ground too. Hopefully it will rekindle a bit of passion, and I'll end up back down the lane in time.
