It's taken until the end of June before we got a hammering.
At the risk of sounding like a Norwich fan, I couldn't see us losing until the sending off. However that doesn't excuse the horror show in the second half. It was hard to watch players who have played out of their skins all season perform so badly, Norwood playing 5 yard passes to the opposition, enda nutmegging himself and Henderson being badly out of position. The most worrying sign for me is the lack of any forwards who can run in behind or win a header. Since Christmas we don't seem to have much threat up front. Mcburnie and sharp seem similar in that they are both good link up players but lack explosiveness. For me this is the main priority for the summer (after signing a keeper)

I'd disagree about losing though. They were far more dangerous than us going forward and I could have easily seen them score at some point.

If it carries on though, I’d be worried about carrying negative momentum into next season. Especially given that there’s likely to be a curtailed summer break and very little time to refresh the squad.
Still crossing my fingers that it’s just a blip and we’re not a team full of charlatans and chancers who have been riding the crest of a wave.
This better not be our “new normal”.

Glad someone else saw it - felt Berge was by far the best of the three midfielders.

You can see when he finds himself in his ‘usual’ position (I.e. in front on the back 4) he looks very assured. I think on Wednesday we have to play him there, either with Norwood or without.

I don’t understand Wilder’s decision making at all to be honest. After Egan’s sending off it looked like we were playing 2 at the back, all he needed to do was take off a striker and place Jags at the back and we were pretty much as we were.

That is a concern but I don't think Wilder would allow it to carry over to a new season. It could just be two bad performances or it could be that our game is all about intensity and we've had no pre season but there are few warning signs of something deeper that I'm sure Wilder will have his eye on.

The only good thing i got from spending my Father's Day afternoon watching that dismal load of shite. Basham's crusade through their midfield first half (shame Sharp wandered offside) and his dash down the right side of the box and fizzing cross-cum-shot second half were the only moves of the game i can remember where we showed any sort of spark whatsoever.

Exactly. When you're on the back foot, which we were with Saint Maximin, he's immense and was taking the piss at times, we needed some recognisable structure at the back and build to something if possible or at the least keep it level.

If you lose a defender you have to replace them especially when on the back foot. I do not understand Wilder’s thought process at all. He waited at least 20 minutes for a substitution while we were playing 2 at the back and we looked lost. I’m baffled.

You can't have an anchoring central defender who constantly gets caught out by the ball over the top
No matter how good he is at everything else
Its like having a batsmen who can't play spin teams will just put the spinner on him until his wickets gone and it doesn't really matter how exquisite his all round game is because he is now a liability

I think it is important that the supporters don't read too much into this bad restart, but it is true that there are things of concern moving forward. Wilder & Knill must have had a vision & a plan for Berge, which wasn't playing him out of position on the right of the midfield, so he should play him in his position or pick Lunny instead & leave Berge for cameos from the subs bench until such time he changes our formation.

Egan has been a rock for us, but this weakness he has to long balls down the middle is not a sudden development & needs work, either with him solely or as a team is the formation isn't helping. I just cannot understand why Jags wasn't straight on when he was sent off, it was obvious to a blind man, as is the fact that Billy & McBurnie don't have the attributes to play as a pair in our current team. There has to be something Moose has done to piss Wilder off, even half fit he has more attacking threat, he helps us to pin opponents further back & always looks like he can score from nothing.

Despite the last 2 performances we are not a poor side, but it looks as though some have lost a little bit of belief for whatever reason.
