Doyle is a shrewd signing for them, plenty of experience and is usually the 7/10 performer. Alcock is welcome to leave for me but McNulty.. nay chance of that happening (i hope)
Agreed, think Adkins getting back to them re:Alcock next week, they expect costs /wages may be too much and may hope for Alcock on loan. Based on that I expect McNulty to be a non - runner. Hope we don't move him on to let Sharpe in. Mistake in my opinion.

Out of curiousity how do you know Pompey are in for these two?

Just seen Portsmouth are after two more signings, a right back & a striker and i think their preference now are loan deals so what you're telling us does seem to add up.

Would be very happy to see both Alcock and McNulty leave this season (I feel bad saying it as they both gave their all when called upon).

I simply don't believe they can be part of a promotion chasing side.

Loaning Mcnutty out for half a season might not be the worst idea in the world. The lad's only 22 and is most likely still getting used to English league football (see Murphy's indifferent 12 months after joining).

Bit Harsh to include McNulty. If he was 26-27 then I understand but he is still pretty young and it was only his first season in English football last year. 13 goals isn't a bad return.

With Sharp and Adams being talked about as main men up front, I think McNulty should use this competition to sharpen his desire. He may not start games but if he has genuine passion then he'll look at his own game, realise where he needs to strengthen his all-round performance, and grasp whatever opportunity comes his way. If he gets a chance and plays well I can't imagine Adkins leaving him out, but for the moment it's speculation, and what counts is McNulty's appetite for the game and how much he wants to make an impact at United.

I think MM has that special gift for scoring, but it's clear to anyone who's seem him play that this alone isn't enough. Whether it's playing alongside the right partner, or a positional change, there's no doubt McNulty has the basic quality, but he does need to show improvement in his general game if he's to be considered a first team player.

Phone call, on my drive. I was just getting back in from work.

I'm afraid I can't be more specific, other than to say they were knocked back on the McNulty enquiry. ;)

Billy Sharp, Greg Halford and Michael Brown still signing? Portsmouth going for it then, Alcock isn't a bad squad player for this league. I reckon a new LB and CB would be more beneficial, hopefully sorted soon.
