So with 2/3 more signings being touted by Wilder, and after having a first look at the squad in a competitive game, which (up to 3) positions would you look to strengthen?

Personally, I'd like another CB in for more cover and competition, I'd like another CM to add more depth and solidarity in that position, with us only having 3 true players in there in Coutts Fleck and Lundstram, and a forward with a bit of extra pace who might be able to provide a spark in a game when we're up against it.

Sounds good to me

Defensive box to box midfielder to protect the defense, that would be Leonard at Southend and
A fast striker to use on the counter attack.
Agree an in form Ched would work wonders.

In our budget a striker who fits that mould will take some finding. So I see a possible loan coming in to fill that void while the scouts go find a permanent one.

Our bench was very weak today, I thought. Not much to change or save a game

We need a CM with a lot of energy. Coady type.
we need a CM. That Black burn lad would be perfect as can do the CB and CM job
We need a striker. Evans looks crocked and Hanson is not good enough. I'm not confident with Lavery as a starter.

We really need more pace though. Something to spark on a breakaway.

I've gone for the obvious CB, CM, CF but I don't think we need another midfielder, it would be a bit of a luxury. We can easily get by with what we've got until January at least.

We could do with another CB because we only have 4 and 3 of them start. It would also free Basham up to play in midfield if needed, further reducing the need for another midfielder.
But we'll find it hard to strengthen our starting back 3, and only in the event of injuries/suspensions would we need the other defender, so I think we can get by until January. Remember we can also change to a back 4 if more than one of the CBs are unavailable.

The only position I'd be concerned if we didn't strengthen is up front. It's going to be a lot harder to score goals in this division and we need a different option, someone with pace. We can't risk getting stuck with a strikeforce that isn't producing.

Brooks has negated the need for another attacking midfielder/winger. We can't be blocking his path to the team any further.

We need some pace up front, even if it's someone who only scores 10 goals a season. Pace and its uncertainty to opposing defenders is like having a twelfth man, keeps them on their back foot given the style we play.
I'm most certainly not advocating a target man we can lump it to btw. :)

Where's the "97 more points" option?

It's always hard to pinpoint what you need when your team is playing as such a cohesive unit. Nobody as an individual really stood out as a weak link but my major worry is how exposed we can become when teams break (partly a consequence of the formation and our willingness to play open games). I still have my doubts over Freeman at this level, Coutts' pace is a concern as is his tackling, and you can't have too many strikers. Only problem is, to get a clear upgrade on those players is likely to cost a lot of money and I'm not sure we're going to find too many options available. And let's not forget that we still have a few unknowns like Thomas, Baldock, and potentially Brayford to make an impact.

I expect it's going to be a case of a few more lower league gambles on potential to pad out the side for now. On today's showing that may well be enough.

We need a TOP Central midfielder and although Clark and Sharp did we v Brentford, we need a Speedy Striker! We are not fast enough upfront for the Championship.

This just about sums it up to a tee

People if you want a speedy striker be prepared to accept his poorgoal scoring record. The only striker suggestion I've seen is Joe Mason he's no slouch but not known for pace.

For me as everyone said a centre half to create more competition.

A sitting midfield player so we can solidify ourselves. Although Lundstram did a decent job.

And another striker, now that Done has gone just another body up there to add completion. I would think it would have to be a gamble loan and see how it plays out.

I think if you'd put "pace" as an option in that poll it would have scored the highest of all. After yesterday it was clear that Brentford's pace all over the park, not just up front, caused us difficulty. The way they moved the ball really quick, quick feet, fast passing, and then carrying the ball forward at pace and running at us, we've not been tested like that in the division below by anyone. Credit to the lads because they stood up to it well, but if that's "normal" for the Championship then we'd better get some of it - soon.

So if there team is classed as pacey, seen as though we didn't concede and we didnt get done for speed we have to say our defensive unit are all pacey too?

No of course not.

Did you actually see the game? Because if you did then you'll know that their pace caused us problems all afternoon. They looked yards faster than us to be fair. Their finishing was dreadful, otherwise we most certainly would have conceded and if it wasn't for the goalkeeping of Jamal they could have had three or four yesterday. The good thing is, so could we. But that doesn't mean that both teams have the same attributes in terms of pace.

As most people have mentioned; pace up top. If we had that yesterday, we would have killed them off in the final 5 mins as Brentford were playing an extremely high line, for obvious reasons.

Maybe we should get that Leonard bloke from Southend.
