The Blades are at an advanced stage of signing a partnership agreement with a Polish academy having recently entertained representatives from the UKS Lider outfit.
United are hoping to tie-up a mutually-beneficial deal with UKS Lider in the near future, and a number of the Polish academy's top players could be expected in Sheffield on a trial basis shortly.
Blades Chairman Terry Robinson, Academy boss Ron Reid and European scout Gil Prescott recently visited the Polish town of Wloclawek and were happy with the facilities at the centre, which is 100 miles from Warsaw:
"We were delighted with what we saw in Poland, UKS Lider is very professionally run and this association can only benefit both parties.
"They will take on our coaching methods, using our expertise, which will hopefully enable them to pick up the best players in their region and they could end up with United."
UKS Lider are not attached to a professional club in Poland but are regular County Cup champions, whilst part of their coaching set-up is Billy Abbott, the brother of Pawel, a Polish under 21s international who has played for Huddersfield Town and Preston North End.
The Polish academy runs ten junior teams and Billy is excited by the tie-up. He said: "It gives the club more prestige to be linked to a top English club and everyone is looking forward to working with the Blades."
United have also agreed to sign Polish youngster Zeyn Alabidyns-Latef. The 17-year-old striker is set to join up with United's academy.
United have a similar academy tie-up with a team Alboraya UD, a junior club in the Valencia region of Spain.
