That will leave us on 93pts which I don't think will be enough. I think we will be 2pts short but I'm not blaming the Prince for that we have had all season and plenty of chances to make the minus 2pts irrelevant. Trouble is the next two opponents are fighting for their lives same with Stoke but it will be all over by then can anyone see us beating Burnley away seriously? no easy games until the last day. Burnley champs, Leeds runners up, United play off lottery.

It's still doable and obviously after the last 2 poor performances it's just got a lot harder.

Our squad is still of a far higher quality than any of the next few opponents and when we get into gear we can beat anybody.

The way in which Leeds almost conceded last night at on at least 2 occasions and Derby almost got a winner in added time v Burnley tells us that the jitters are not just affecting us.

We created loads of chances last night as well and JRS was very unlucky (as was BBD)

Leeds and Burnley WILL drop more points in the run in, we have to drop fewer than them.

I actually believe it's to our advantage to play Burnley.

Its obviously a tough one but we go there and win and we take 3 points off them.

The only chink of light I see is that all five of Burnley's matches are of a type that Parker might draw 0-0 if somehow they don't score early. So if by some miracle we beat Burnley, another 0-0 or two might compensate for the one clanger we are sure to drop somewhere.
Every match Burnley play is a match that Parker might draw 0-0. If you come to Turf Moor and shut up shop hoping for a draw, you will probably get it. (Though fewer guarantees since the addition of Edwards to the team.)

Burnley's good fortune (I reckon) is that apart from possibly yourselves (depending on results in the meantime), we've no opponents left to play who have any reason to shut up shop. Teams at the bottom will bust a gut for a 0-0 draw, teams chasing the top two or on the fringes of play-offs need wins.

According the the Bloomster...

"Leeds' ppg in the last 6 has dropped by 30%
Sheffield United's has dropped by 22%
Burnley's ppg has gone up 15%"

Am I concerned that a 2 point deficit is unable to be overturned? - No absolutely not

Am I confident that Leeds/Burnley will drop enough points across 5 games for us to overturn it? - Yes I am

Am I confident that we are playing well enough to take advantage? - No absolutely not

Its that bottom one that is the issue here - not the numbers, our performances

As John Cleese famously said, it's the hope that kills you, so I've reconciled myself to.the play off now. Anything else will be a bonus.

Watch us now win at the weekend and Preston beat Leeds to bring back the hope...

I expect at least one more unexpected result. Playing Burnley could be our trump (even though I detest using that word) card

Unfortunately we've fucked it. We need to win at Burnley regardless of what we do in the other 4 games and that simply cannot happen

Anyone can beat anyone in the Championship, so we are not dead yet, but going on form I cant see us getting anything at Turf Moor.

I'll try to be optimistic again.

Plymouth - W
Cardiff - W
Burnley - L
Stoke - D
Blackburn - W

Love the optimism shown by some of you lot after watching the last two performances.

I'll join in.
Cannon 10 goals in his next 5 games.

Burnely - W 4-0 (Cannon Hat-trick, Cooper scores from a freak wind asssisted free kick)

Predictions after the crack pipe has been put to one side and the effects have worn off:

So, just to be clear, are we locking in the crack pipe predictions, or the Woodbines?

We could really do with another swing back in our favour in the next two.

Ironically we've put in two crap performances in games I didn't feel the pressure was on as much. We had delivered a good spot for ourselves after Coventry.

But we well and truly blew that. And even had 2 games to do it in.

But it can swing back. I'm struggling to see where Burnley or Leeds slip up.

Obviously in Burnleys case they play us but it's away for us. Rest of their fixtures look very winnable but I guess they could have said the same about our last two.

Ironically in Leeds' case Bristol City at home looks tough at the min. They have Oxford away but surely they can't be as crap as we were.
Plymouth away could be tough for them last day if Plymouth have anything to fight for.

We just have to try and win each game as it comes.

We've managed to do the sheff united though.

Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I hope we can reverse it. But it's a tough ask.
