5 to go !

Voting will close before the Plymouth game on Saturday, but you can change yours at at anytime up until closing. We've had an average of 269 people vote in each 5-game block so far, so join in

If you dare, state your predictions for each game, and I will put in an update after each match, showing who is doing well and who is out of the running for 5/5. We've had 96 people so far this season who've been brave enough to stick their predictions down publicly. You know you want to!

Our home league form to date (2nd overall) has us on 2.14 PPG
Our away league form to date (2nd overall) has us on 2.00 PPG
If you only took that into account, our next 5 fixtures could net us 10.28 points

My results predictions:

Plymouth Argyle (A) - W
Cardiff City (H) - W
Burnley (A) - L
Stoke City (A) - W
Blackburn Rovers (H) - W

Pts - 12

Quite simple really. Win the next five by whatever means and hope the other two slip up. It's possible and not rocket science

Plymouth A - W
Cardiff H - W
Burnley A - D
Stoke A - D
Blackburn H - W

94 pts - 3rd place - 1 pt behind Leeds or Burnley. Hence 2 pts deduction will become an issue sadly. For me a win against either Oxford or Millwall or 2 draws would have tipped it in our favour.

Think we’ll lose all our away games win both home.
That’s being generous can’t see where a goal is going to come from at the minute.

Have we folded or can Wilder bring em back up?

Plymouth Argyle (A) - W
Cardiff City (H) - W
Burnley (A) - L

11 pts, whether that is enough remains to be seen, but neither us, Leeds or Burnley will win all 5 of our remaining games so it will be an interesting few weeks.

Forget what Leeds and Burnley are doing, just focus on United and get behind the lads for these last 5 games.

Our recent record at the Britannia & Turf Moor has been crap also

Optimistically have us winning the next two to keep ourselves in it heading to Turf Moor.

However, Burnley are unbeaten in almost 30 games, haven't lost at home all season and are the best side in the division right now. I expect a loss there and our automatic hopes to effectively end that night (remembering the GD is worth an extra point to Leeds & Burnley).

In a strange way, it might be no bad thing for our hopes to end a bit earlier so we can rest players ahead of the play-offs.

Purely out of interest, have you been keeping track of how you've been going with your Burnley and Leeds predictions? Especially Burnley, perhaps, who have been more consistent

I haven't, but after Coventry I thought we'd get 4 points from Oxford & Millwall.
I thought Leeds would drop points to Luton & Middlesbrough & I had Burnley dropping points last night.

I thought we were heading for the title. I thought we'd have a 4+ point gap heading to Turf Moor.
The collapse has been incredible. To lose both games is so, so disappointing and I really didn't see it coming with how consistent we've been. I thought we would finish in typical Wilder fashion, racing home on the home-straight but the pressure's got to us. His interview was absolutely bizarre midweek and felt damaging.

Hard to see where the next goal's coming from never mind the next point.
Time to put a fork in it and start thinking of how we compete in the Championship next season minus Hamer, Souza, Ahmedhodvic, possibly Cooper etc.

And now your prediction of 2PPG from our final 5 is not going to be enough 😭

10 points will definitely not be enough, as we'd need Leeds or Burnley to only manage 7 points from 5 games. There's no way that's going to happen.

The only way we go up is if you reverse the Burnley result in my predictions.
If we win 4 (including Burnley) and draw 1 then I think we do it...

..but I just can't see that happening with form we're in and the feel around the club.

Agree, I was just reflecting on the realisation, and likely reality, that the golden target of 2ppg may now no longer be enough

12 points with a loss to Burnley.

You think Leeds will only get 9/15 points?

I have a (very misplaced no doubt) feeling that Wilder will restore O’Hare to the line up and it will bring the best out of Hamer for the last 5 matches.

That will see us undefeated for the next 5.

It can’t go on as it has the last 2. A team who has amassed 26 wins doesn’t suddenly lose the ability to win.

Plymouth will be fighting, but you can’t overcome a lack of quality if both teams apply themselves equally. They’re 24th because they’re not good enough to be 23rd. What better team to face when you’ve become a bit shot shy than the one with the worst defence?

I know teams are fighting but if these players have genuine aspirations to be in the top flight then beating 3 teams who could legitimately drop through the trap door is a challenge they should embrace.

I’m not even thinking about Blackburn. They will be out of it and our fate should be well understood.

Burnley will be a memorable one off cup final. It will be like a play off rehearsal. Anything can happen if a game is perceived as a one off.

We just need to lay off getting overstressed with Wilder or the players. It is crunch time. We’ve done it the hard way, no Arblaster, no Souttar for half the campaign, no Souza or Davies for probably a combined season if you add up their absences. We spent large parts relying on Oné being a game trier, asking Peck to shoulder the midfield, carefully managing injury prone players like Campbell. It’s not been easy.

5 games against 24th, 22nd, 2nd, 20th and 12th. One stands out but it could be a lot harder. How much do we want it?

I also think we are now unlikely to do it. That is due to our own form and the Burnley match.

The games Leeds have left now simply look too easy. They don't look like losing a single one and even at a push, there is maybe one or two draws in there for me.

The only chink of light I see is that all five of Burnley's matches are of a type that Parker might draw 0-0 if somehow they don't score early. So if by some miracle we beat Burnley, another 0-0 or two might compensate for the one clanger we are sure to drop somewhere.

Oh fuck I've been dreading these last 5 cobba pal cappy... I'm in a sh1t negative mood so here goes.

Plymouth A - D
Cardiff H - W
Burnley A - L
Stoke A - D
Blackburn H - W

Hope I'm wrong.
