Playing the kids in the Premier League!?

My point is not about putting them on the pitch in order to miraculously turn the tide and win every game. I was suggesting play them even for ten minutes give them some PL play time we have nothing to lose now. I do not see the harm personally. It also gives us a chance to see what they are like now and possibly for the future.
Why have them on the bench and running up and down the touchline go that one step extra and sub them on for 5 minutes at the end.

We may never get to the PL again for some time so this might be there only experience of it. I dont see or get the objection and what are they being protected from ? 5 minutes of playing in a Premier League match ? Give them the play time, parents would be proud.

I don't get this 'oh it will ruin their careers' bullshit. People thrive in different environments some people the bigger the challenge the better they perform. How would we know unless they're given a go for 10-20 mins here or there??

Geezus anyone would think we're pulling random strangers off the street telling them to be captain, play a full 90 in defence midfield and attack all at the same time.

These are kids with talent who train 5 days a week, currently killing it in their own league. Let them have have a go at making the step up.. they deserve it!

If they go to Wilder and say hey I'm not up to playing in the prem at this stage then fair enough, but most would be chomping on the bit and excited to have a crack.

Just read the OP and the "kids" of the thread title are Ampadu, Lowe, Bogle etc not the U23 squad. :D

The old saying goes if they are good enough, they are old enough...

Clearly none of the youth players will be good enough at the moment, and wouldn't improve our overall on pitch performances. As much as Lundstram is a extremely limited footballer, and Norwood / Fleck / Brewster / McB /Stevens etc have beeen bang out of form - at the moment they will be significantly better than the likes of Maguire / Brunt / Hackford.

For the record i don't! But... if you believe there's even the slightest chance of survival playing the youth isn't really an option - and doing so is perceivably the same as throwing in the towel.

I'd imagine once relegation is mathematically the case we will see some of them get some minutes, it will be a crying shame if we don't - particularly when Wilder has stated publicly a few need to leave...

I'm not advocating throwing them in the deep end and starting games - but 20 mins here and there would likely do wonders for there development.

However, can't lose sight of the fact that statically none of the current prospects will end up making at Championship level or above... As much as we want them to!
