so today we had the following back 4

Freeman a right back played at right back
Collins a centre half played at centre half
Edgar a centre half played at centre half
McEverley a left back played at left back

The end result a 2 NIL win

Well done Adkins and well done blades

Don't disagree but it helped that the opposition were really shit. We gave them a lot of space and possession which worked well with our counter attacking strategy.

Last season with players in the wrong position we would have conceded, just like in this fixture last season, they had loads on corners and we dealt with the lot. I think that has a lot to do with organisation.

And hopefully; we will have a CM playing CM alongside Basham and a RW playing RW in time for the next game and it may look a bit more balanced out there.

Wallace in cm for Baxter and sign a pacey RW and we look a complete side

Last season we beat a better Chesterfield side than that...

And here's me sat watching them and thinking they were playing very well in midfield and our defence were doing well to keep them out, and all the time it was just them being rubbish...
Just shows you dun it......

Should we consider making Edgar permanent? If he carries on playing well, will championships side look to buy him in the JTW?

We gave them a lot of possession and sat very deep to defend. As soon as they gave the ball away, inevitably, we attacked them comfortably.

You're right, but didnt match winner Adams a centre forward played left wing? :o)

Not sure he is a centre forward, his YouTube videos before he joined us showed him on the wing so I think he's a winger ;)

I reckon his best position is striker, but I think we could debate this one all day mate! But I agree with your original point about the defence, and boom, a clean sheet so big improvement on a 0-4 drubbing last week.

Let's just agreed he's a multi talented lad

Edgar has said he prefers centre midfield, McEveley has said he considers himself a centre half, many would say Basham's best at centre half, Baxter should play in the hole and Scougall is no wide man...

For me it's about balance and maybe our's was ok today? :) Will have a look tomorrow.

How far away is Flynn?

Hopefully about 300 miles away exter or Portsmouth will do.

Seriously though, I don't know but he isn't the answer. Has the odd decent game at the lane but other than that he is what he was brought in for, back up. I don't think he'd be snapped up by any of our promotion rivals put it that way.

I'd much rather see us sign the lad Byrne from Swindon.

This hole that you want Baxter in ,can I dig it ?
Seriously how hard do we have try and accommodate this serial failure.
Jagielka thought he was a midfielder ,Edgar and McEveley were played in the right positions ,agree on Scougall.

It has been a bugbear of my for a while especially upfront that we would buy a prolific striker & then stick him on tge wing

Sam Morsey and Nathan Byrne would do just fine :)

I must admit tiday I thought Scougall was awful. I'm a fan of Stefan, and it's perhaps unfair as he was playing out of position but he was completely out of position nearly all game. We were effectively playing with 3 central midfielders and no right winger today, which limited the effect Freeman had whilst pushing up. Not a dig at Scougall or Adkins, as mentioned i am i big fan of both, but Scougall is not a wide player.

One thing is Sharp should stay central an leave the channels to Connor, who by the way I thought was excellent not just in his play but how he can speak an organise the players. I noticed he never stopped encouraging and telling people where to be. Good all round play
