Playing back to Henderson

There were spells tonight when we played through them with some excellent slick passing. However, far too often we seem to play backwards until the ball is sent back to Hendo. Every time that happened he hoofed it long and the result was easy possession for Liverpool. Often the ball didn’t go anywhere near a SU player. I noticed that tactic creeping in against Man City. Now, it’s always different watching the game on tv as you can’t see what is happening upfield and there may be no other options but it just seems so out of character compared to how we can play. Apart from anything else, if we lose confidence in our ability to draw teams on and pass our way out of a press it takes away one of our main attacking threats.

We were terrible on the ball. We didn't play how we usually do. Really disappointed tbh.

I agree BladeinIreland. That was the most disappointing performance since Wilder walked through the door. Yes I know Liverpool are good, bloody good! But from the very first kick (when Stevens just hoofed it out of play for no reason whatsoever) we were AWFUL. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I’d sum it up by saying:

No shame. No pride. Huge disapppointment!

Their second came straight from a breakaway after a God awful cross from Enda.

I don't think we can over estimate the impact the festive fixture list has had on our mental fatigue levels. Had we played Liverpool before City it would have been City giving us a football lesson.
