I'm not suggesting that we go out and buy 'em, because they're not english and they play abroad, but I reckon the following players are ace and well within our price range (at the time of me saying they were ace):

Dylan Bronn (CB)
Marvin Spielmann (FW)
Morten Thorsby (CM)
Clint Leemans (CM)
Simon Gustafson (CM)

So i'm going to follow their progress this season, just for a bit of fun and to boost my fragile ego, and to see whether this scouting bollocks is, well just bollocks. And, if they turn out to be shit, then i'm hoisted by my own petard by trying to pretend i know owt about football :)

So at the end of 2019/20, the following season, and a couple of these go for circa, £15-20m.
Can we still leave you hoisted. Asking for a friend.

Get lost, we don't need you foreign scouty types, we'd rather pay for poor British scouting than get these names off you for free...

Anyway, here goes...................

Morten Thorsby had a lively start to his 2018/19 Eredivisie season tonight, he scored 2 and set 1 up in Heerenveen's 3-2 victory over PEC Zwolle. He also got a straight red on 55 minutes. The dirty bastard. Clint Leemans played for Zwolle, and from what i can discern, appeared to have done fuck all. The shithouse.

Thorsby played right hand side of the midfield 3 in a 4-3-3, whilst Leemans played left hand side of the midfield 2 in a rather cheeky 4-2-3-1. Thorsby won MOM with an rating of 7.8, whilst Leemans was rated 5.7.

Yes, but with the fax machine problem done to death, just think of all the viable excuses for not getting our signings completed
Ryanair on strike
French Air Traffic controllers
The flight wasn't delayed after all and the player is sat in Manchester Airport
Icelandic Volcanoes

The list is endless

I'm only one upsetting life experience away from being a social inadequate, so i've got to be careful what i do with my leisure time. It's either this or Eddie Stobart lorry spotting (which does quite appeal tbf). :)

I can relate to that. I do a lot of motorway driving and enjoy a bit of Eddie Stobart lorry spotting. I like the lovely girls names that his lorries have. “Annette Fay” and “Elisa Jane” and such like.

In fact, a mate of mine, a Wednesdayite as it happens, recently had their first child, a baby girl. I asked him what they were going to call her and he said him and his wife couldn’t decide on a girls name. So I told him to look at some of the names on Eddie Stobarts lorries for some inspiration.

I bumped into him last week and he was very grateful for that tip. They’ve called her “Volvo F10”.

At this juncture, I’d just like to flag up the fact that sampdoria have picked up Morten Thorsby on a free transfer (possibly/probably) after reading about him on here. :)

Franco Baresi still available? Saw him, looked decent

Tommy Svindal Larsen is decent as a midfielder either in the centre or the left. Should pick him up from Staebeck for 175k. If we can’t get him, I’d seriously look at Peter Smith at Brighton or Stefan Selakovic.

Either cracking banter or plain old S24SU shithousing, difficult to tell. :)

I don't have a favourite, but I asked my wife and she said her favourite is "Dixie Normous". The silly sausage! It isn't even in the list! 😀

I think that's one of their bespoke 'home delivery' trucks - a special 'service' for preferred customers - delivery window guaranteed to fit in with your (husband's) work commitments
Newly introduced 'Premier' package - Satdi's @ 15:00 - 17:00 or Monday 20:00 - 22:00

4 1/2 years have flown by, and I've decided to resurrect this thread, mainly because I can. 🤷‍♂️

I'll have a quick recap on the 5 players that I thought were fucking ace, and then i'll blitz into my next batch of players that arouse me.

Dylan Bronn (CB) - Spotted him playing for Gent in Belgium in 2018 (where he won their Player of the Year award for 18/19), since then he's played for Metz in the Ligue 1 and is currently in Serie A with Salernitana. He's played in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups for Tunisia. Positive suggestion.

Marvin Spielmann (FW) - Spotted him playing for Thun in Switzerland in 2018, since then he's played for Young Boys and Lausanne Sport, both in Switzerland. His career hasn't developed the way I thought it would and he's not received the exposure that I thought his early career form suggested. In 2018, he'd scored 25 in 75 and I thought that that snapshot offered an indication to his future prospects. Negative suggestion.

Morten Thorsby (CM) - Spotted him playing for Heerenveen in Holland in 2018, since then he's played for Sampdoria in Serie A and is currently in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin. He's played 17 times for Norway. Positive suggestion.

Clint Leemans (CM) - Spotted him playing for VVV - Venlo in Holland in 2018, since then he's played for PEC Zwolle, RKC Waalwijk and De Graafscap in Holland and is currently in the Denmark with Viborg. Negative suggestion.

Simon Gustafson (CM) - Spotted him playing for Feyenoord's reserves in 2018, since then he's played for Utrecht in Holland and Hacken in Sweden. Negative suggestion.

As Meatloaf once famously sang, 2 outta 5 ain't bad.

Where's the next batch? Or are you not yet aroused? 😂

If we get promoted, I would suggest the following:

1. Gift Orban: The lad is a rare & very special talent. He's a 20 yr old Nigerian centre forward. He spent the first few years of his career playing in Norway and was bought by Genk in January for £3.5m. Whilst in Norway he scored 16 in 22 games, since going to Belgium, he's scored 7 in 5 league games and 5 in 4 in the Europa Conference League. His career will basically follow the same trajectory as Osimhen. I'd happily pay £10m plus for him now.

2. Johnny Cardoso: He's a 21 yr old USA international midfielder, currently playing in Brazil for Internacional. He's experienced for someone so young and has played over 60 1st team games and appeared in the Copa Lib and Copa Sud. He offers a little bit of everything, technically strong and very intelligent on the ball. He's mobile, doesn't mind a tackle and can pick a pass.

3. Hugo Vetlesen: A player that I've mentioned on here before. He's a 23 yr old Norwegian midfielder, currently playing for Bodø/Glimt and the national side. He is primarily a central midfielder, but is also capable of playing in attacking midfield and out wide. He's scored 16 goals and assisted a further 12 in 29 Eliteserien appearances last season. He's also played in the europa conference league and not looked out of place.

4. Finn Dahmen: He's a 24 yr old German/English goalkeeper, currently playing for Mainz. His contract is up at the end of the season, and he's leaving. He's played for the Germany u15, u17, u18 and u21's. He's a player who at one stage was seen as the heir to Neuer, but through bad choices his career has stalled.

5. Sven Mijnans: He's a 23 yr old midfielder for AZ Alkmaar in Holland. He was signed in January for £2.5m from Sparta Rotterdam. He's left footed and can play either left hand side or central in a 3. He's attack minded, and is on the periphery of the Dutch national team. He recently played v. Lazio in the europa conference league and didn't embarrass himself. I would also name his team mate Wouter Goes as another international level player in waiting. He's an 18 yr old centre back at AZ, and he's a rare talent.

6. Million Manhoef: He's a 21 yr old LWB/RWB/RCM/LCM who currently plays for Vitesse Arnhem. He's also a dutch u21 international. He's attack minded, pacey and a great dribbler.

7. Adem Zorgane: He's a 23 yr old CM, who plays for Charleroi in Belgium and for the Algerian national side. Rangers were interested in him last transfer window. He's a box to box midfielder, mobile, strong, likes a tackle and is progressive in his passing. A rare mix of technicality and physicality. He can operate as a deep lying play maker, a all action box-to-box midfielder and even advanced playmaker.

8. Mateo Retegui: Everyone will know about this lad in a couple of weeks He's a 23 yr old Ar gentian CF, who has ripped it up in Argentina for two seasons. He is owned by Boca Juniors but is on loan at Tigre in the Argentine first division where he has 23 goals and 3 assists in 42 appearances, with 6 goals in his last 6 games to open the 2023 season. He's very cleverly turned down the Argentinian national team and has accepted a call up from Italy. He's a complete CF, and has a whiff of Tevez about him. Technically strong, physically strong and is not afraid to mix it. Of the list he is possibly the one that is out of reach, but there's talk of Udinese being interested in him and a fee of between £15m to £20m and he may see a season in the Prem with us as a shop window/stepping stone.
