Once we’ve got the final definitive list, can we sort them into the level of outrage that it caused when they went elsewhere? I’d suggest mildly miffed to smash the frickin lot up as the two outer parameters.

Steve Agnew

I still remember looking at the Star each evening hoping to read that Bassett had signed him. Instead we were stuck watching Gannon aimlessly hook the ball over his shoulder every game.

Not sure he'd get a game these days.

Central Midfield: Juan Pablo Anor

Surely Maupay is the new team captain and talismanic striker in that 11 now?

Towards the end of the promotion season (89/90) I heard that we’d had him on trial from Barnsley with a view to a move. No idea if it was true as I can’t remember if I heard it from my reliable ITKs or just some random.

Coady is the captain of a very good Wolves side, we have not outgrown him.

Kinkladze from Ajax in 99.
Kevin Phillips or Huckerby when we in desperate need a 20 goal striker in the Champ under Warnock

Gerry Forrest. Excellent right-back in the Blades tradition of Coldwell and Badger. It was galling to see him playing well in a Rotherham team that was in a higher division than us.
More recently, I always thought we’d get Kevin Davies from Bolton.

Anyone mention Eoin Doyle - really wanted him a few years ago. Also wanted Waghorn but it appears that was a near miss!

Gannon is unjustifiably maligned imho. he was vital to the way we played because of his set piece delivery

Marcus Maddison

This lad has been super impressive for Peterborough this season and would definitely be one I would keep an eye on. We have lads in the first team that have played at league one level and cannot see why he wouldn't be able to make the step up given a bit of time.

I think Brian the Blade has now moved on from John Marquis
