Players that were contracted to us, but never actually played a game..

Emanuele Gabrielli never got on did he? I remember him being on the bench at Brighton some time around 2003 but don't think he actually played..

I'd imagine there's a fair few who've signed pro terms but never played for us.
 
Ruling out any "academy" players, so players that have joined us from another club.

Mamadou Seck? A Warnock signing that we shipped off to Scunny I think.

Marc Warren the Aussie lad. Seamus Conneely that came over with Dave Mcallister.

Probably a few goalkeepers who signed as short term number twos. That's all i've got for now, i'll have more of a think later.

He came on at Gillingham when we won 3-1 in the early kick off.
 
Simon Walton was contracted to us in the sense that he was on loan (as opposed to a trial). He did his knee and never played for us competitively but I don't know if the injury was in a friendly or training.

Kristoffer Løkberg was another of those development squad signings.
 
Did Karl Colley or Gary Kelly (Alan's brother) ever make an appearance for us? Seem to recall we spent a 6-figure sum on the former.

Gary Kelly played away at Watford in 2002/03 at least. I think you're right about Colley. What about Shaun Murphy's brother, was he officially signed, or just on trial?

The most bizzare cameo ever. Was a centre half but proceeded to charge around after the ball like a ten year old in the school playground. Despite that the closest he came to touching the ball was a absolutely crazy two footed lunge that he really should have walked for. One of Warnocks crazy signings.

Gary played at Watford at the end of the triple assault season I think? He definitely played for us once. Not sure about Karl Colley, could be a good shout.

Did Benoit Croissant ever get an appearance? Another Warnock special. Hao Hao Dong never played either did he?

Also no idea of his name, but didn't we sign some supposed wonder kid from Inter Milan who was never heard of again?

Hao Hai Dong had an appearance as sub can't remember who against though, he was shite.

He played in a league cup victory against Bury.
 
We signed Cameron Evans from Glasgow Rangers in Sept or Oct 1968 but he went back after a few days due to homesickness

Slight digression..... Didn't we once have some agreement to sign Rafael Chukwu (or some such) that was playing in South Africa... supposedly the next Pele (yet another)... in the mid/late 90s.. but it never happened..? (if that name is the right player, he ended up at Bari for a while but never made it big anywhere...)

When I was doing a Flashing Blade article on Woodward's goals and assists about 14 years ago, I spent a lot of time at the Sheffield Central Library looking at the Morning Telegraph archives between 1962 (when Woody signed for us) and 1978 (when he left for USA), there were a lot of interesting reports that I wasnt aware of such as that we wore white shorts for a run of home games between Sept and Dec 1966. I hadnt known about Cameron Evans until when I had moved on the Morning Telegraph reports of the 1968-69 season. John Motson was a Morning Telegraph football reporter around that time which was something that was new to me too

Jim Gannon never played a competitive 1st team game for us. Martin Dickinson played in only one game for us (came on as sub, I think) in the 4-1 win at Brentford in Sept 1988. Not long after that he suffered whiplash injuries from a car accident (in Parkway, I think) and had to retire from playing due to the injuries
