Looks like if we can get enough players in January we might be able to put a run together to scrape in the play offs

Lucky enough the quality of the league deteriorates every year so it's still looking doable

If we aren't up there Judge, it'll be selling not buying. Adams, Sharp, Brayford take your pick.

Like I know what I'm having for snap tomorrow?

Love how positive our fans are. No wonder our home is a fortress and the opposition fear to tread.

We'll finish this season as champions, based on the fact we've got a manager who won't stand for any player taking the piss and has the passion to drive us onwards and upwards.

That's something we haven't had since Warnock and something not to be under estimated.

Alex Ferguson could be manager but you need players

Nonsense.

The exact same was said of Nigel Clough.

It's good for a manager to be disciplined, we saw how the opposite brought Weir (and Robson) down but we still have 4 piss takers on the transfer list and the threat that they may have to be used.

If we're not 10 points clear by Christmas I will be calling for Wilder's head. This has to be the year we finally bust out of this shitty league ;)

Everything about this club has a 1980's depression feel about it
I wouldn't be surprised to see us fall another Division.

You can only pretend to be a football club for so long, eventually you'll sink into the position your ambition allows as more and more clubs from below overtake you.

I thought we'd already debunked that myth? If you follow it to its logical conclusion, the standard will eventually be like children who are kicking a ball for the first time.

Having just moved to the Philippines, I have been watching a fair few UFL games at the weekends. I am already longing for the standard of third division football back home.

We could field all the transferees. Or we could all take our boots ;)

It's just a good job we sacked wilder in December and brought back Bladeyblade Morgan to lead the late charge to 6th

Fans tend to be totally bias in favour of their own clubs and generally over optimistic.

The exception being Blades who have a large proportion waiting for them to fail and in a perverse way seem happy when we struggle.

It's the old saying "the bookies don't often get it wrong", it's their job to study form, history etc and make accurate predictions.

They have us as favourites and most neutrals also have us as favourites.
We have a manager with a current up to date record of success and yet again we will be amongst the highest budgets in league 1. All things being equal clubs with bigger budgets have a better chance than ckubs with lower budgets.

A friend of mine who was half decent at football in the UK but never played above Sunday league actually played in the UFL for 3 seasons when I lived in the Philippines....

My hopes are pinned on CW:
-Picking up a few more decent signings.
-Generating better team spirit than we've seen for years.
-Motivating an average bunch to over perform (like we are use to - pinchy can do one).
-The Lane fckn rocking again.
-Slagging the filth off at every opportunity.

Having seen a bit, I can believe it. There are some truly dreadful footballers here. The standard of goalkeeping is especially questionable.

Who's your pal and what side did he play for? I have adopted Kaya FC since I am based in Makati and since they are the only side that appear to have some actual supporters.

No, it aint. It's their job to see how much wonga's being put on each option and adjust odds accordingly.

The truth is actually somewhere between the two. It usually starts with Sheffsteel's bit and then moves to Barney's bit. How can a bookmaker see how much money has been placed and adjust their position if they haven't actually priced the market up in the first place, to facilitate the betting?

Kaya? You glory hunter ;) They have basically ran over everyone with some wealthy investors if I recall correctly. He is called Steve Borrill and played for the Nomads. Are the younghusband brothers (ex-chelsea, football manager legends) still playing out there?

I lived in Makati, what an incredible place. Have fun out there!

The best way to find out exactly what the bookies think is when the bookies publish the points total spread for league 1 on sporting index.

I think we will finish somewhere between 5th and 15th. No higher, no lower.

I’m going 4th-8th.

Hard to see us putting a squad together that can challenge for top 2. If we went out and brought a couple of impressive signings like say McFadzean and Akinde in over the coming week, I might start to change my mind.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think Woolford or Hammond are “piss-takers” as such. They both seem to work hard and put a shift in. It’s just that they’re both extremely limited footballers who are not good enough to be regulars in a top 2 team. I suspect the likes of Freeman and Wallace must have done something to piss off others as they do seem potentially good enough with the right attitude.

I think only a very select few seem to tale the perverse pleasure in our failure that you allude to. Most are just so beaten down by years of being let down that it’s difficult for them to feel optimistic. Especially when you consider the reasons for our continued failure still being here (lack of established scouting system, pattern of play, continuity etc.). We have owners that seeming never learn and are always looking for a quick fix whilst dealing in boom and bust investment.

Despite liking the manager’s track record and the cut of his jib, I still struggle to muster genuine optimism about our prospects for next season when I look at our squad and what is left to do. IF we can get 2-3 players of the right calibre (and right positions) through the door this week ready to get the settled in and ready for the start of the season, then I might become more optimistic but until then, whilst I have hope, I can’t say I have a great deal of expectation.

As for the bookies, yes they’re right more often than not but they’ve had us as favourites for 5 years.

Are you sure? From what I can tell they're not that good! They won the cup in 2015 but don't appear to have done much else and, having watched them play twice, they're a bit shit. They do at least have a proper goalie though.

The Younghusbands are still here yeah, they're both playing with the MERALCO Sparks who are probably the best outfit I've seen so far, ahead of Ceres and Global. The pair of them were at some social event my new employers put on last week actually, along with some of the other 'Azkals' (not that I went... :D )
