But it is possible, I am hoping and praying to the man upstairs that Hull hammer Palace next, and so do Burnley, although it does look unlikely, plus prividing we win our last two.

Play-offs round about now is looking nothing short of a miracle, but if Palace can crack under preassure of us breathing down their necks, and Blackie can keep us lot cool then Southampton will be a very very interesting day out.

blades and leeds chase a few seasons ago??

blacky chasing warnock

We can still catch Watford- if they lose both and we win both

There goal difference is +7 United is +5

Who's the team in 7th?

They have to lose too.

Ipswich. I'm not going to think about the miracle (much), unless it's still mathematically possible when we play Southampton .......

But .......

One of the biggest factors in this, is what happens in the Wolves v Cardiff match on Tuesday. If Wolves win, then they go back above us, and into 7th, three points in front, with two still left. That would shut the door on Cardiff, and make our task all but insurmountable.

If Cardiff win by one goal, then Wolves stay below us (obviously), but Cardiff draw alongside, on the same points and goal difference. If that happens, or there's a draw, it opens slightly. So here we go, team by team .....

Watford

Watford are pretty much unattainable, I'd say, as they have Scunthorpe at home, and I just can't see them losing to Scunny.

Crystal Palace

Palace on the other hand, have Hull away, who will be smarting from today's dismal showing, then Preston at home. Now granted, I can't see Preston getting a thing from Palace, but it only takes a goal or two around the grounds for anal sphincters to start twitching.

Sheffield United

Bristol City are 4th, with a goal difference of -1, have never been particularly good travellers (oh, how we know that feeling), and have a crap record at the Lane (two wins from 15 or 16 matches in the League), and haven't won here since November 1957. If we need to win at Southampton, we can, despite our crap record there, because they're crap as it is. Potentially, there are six points there for us, but it needs so many other things to fall right.

Wolves

Assuming we're still in the hunt to make all this bollocks worthwhile, they've a fairly easy task at Coventry, who are now all but safe. Similarly, their last match at Plymouth looks a bit of a shoo-in to me, and they're my favourites to make it if Palace fail.

Cardiff

Their hopes hang on the same lines as ours (i.e. very bloody tenuously), and an away trip to Burnley could see them off. Their last match is at home to Barnsley, but I think the game will long be up by then for them.

Ipswich

Away to Preston won't be fun for one of the worst travellers in the League, but they have Hull at home on the last day. Granted, Hull were shocking today, but it might just be the last chance saloon for an automatic place for them, so I wouldn't say a win is guaranteed for the 'home' side of the division.

Verdict

Palace and Watford are all but assured of the last two places in the play-offs, but there are the tiniest of chinks in the armour. If anyone can exploit them, I fear it will be Wolves.

Cant really disagree with whats been said here but it would be a different story (as Blackwell has stated on sky) that if either Palace or watford cock up next week and we win we go into the last game 2 or 3 points behind with 1 game to go and as we all well know you never ever ever ever know whats gunna happen on the last day ... just dont even try predicting it lol

I thought our match against Hull on saturday was the best performance of the season considering where they are an obviously having a man down. a lot of individuals such as tonge and naysmith stood out but we are working well as a team on and off the pitch (Fantastic atmos last 2 home matches) and back to doing what United do best.

RE. the play-offs---- obviously with United always expect the unexpected and believe the unbelivable. it would be great if we did get there but I'm not going to hang my hat on it.. I am back looking forward to matches and am personally so gutted that there are only two games left because its been brilliant under blackwell and he thoroughly deserves the managers job permanently.

when i studied it on saturday i thought that We could easily pick watford off and had a glimmer of excitement but then seeing their remaining fixtures a sense of realism kicked in once more.. having said that scunny beat Cardiff with nothing to play for and Hurst and Forte might want to give us a helping hand lol i cant see it but you never know
typical Warnock palace the only other side in as gooder form as us I think they could very well lose hull away (you would think and hope) leaving us a chance on the last day if we win bristol of course.
Ipswich with their games i think they will miss out but i dont think that wolves' trip to coventry will be as easy as hippyhappy makes out as they need a win to secure themselves and its kind of a midlands derby if you will lol
knowing united we will be in with a shout on the last day but probably go and lose ourselves or something... having said that theres such a buzz and the play-offs would be the least that we deserve having endured what we have over the last year.

i believe we are the best club in this league but we have just been too late in showing it and whether it be this season or next season, under Blackwell I believe we will make the premiership once more
My mission?..... absolutely enjoy every second of the season that is left and whatever happens, happens afterall it cant be as bad as having robbo still in charge!
