I am much happier with the attitude to promotion that had us applauding Ipswich fans at the Lane. It's a positive time and grinding Wednesday fans faces in the dirt doesn't do anything for Sheffield's reputation let alone ours. I am glad we are not playing Wednesday next season, crap nervous games preceded by days of angst. After 60 years of living through this extreme rivalry agenda I prefer to focus on the pure joy of a wonderful achievement done in remarkable way that we can take real pride in and that, without prompting, has been sincerely recognised by football fans from many clubs.

Heard at the lane during the beam back, as the plane flew over , from a guy sat directly behind me : ' it would have been a good idea to have it fly over Hillsborough would nt it!' . Said in all seriousness to his wife.

There are some sensible folk who keep off social media.

end of feb wednesday were wallowing in 12th position
but under Bruce theyve forged ahead looking good and finished magnificently to finish,,,errrr 12th

And who finished 12th in the Championship last season? Ipswich.

As I've said elsewhere, Fatboy Bruce has been 'in charge' now for 18 games (after hiding on his cricket jolly and deciding the fixture list in February looked easy - 6 games including Ipswich, Reading, Millwall and Rotherham). In this time, the pigs have beaten a team in the top-half of the table once.

They're as near to relegation as they are to the play-offs. The pig fans will learn (they're probably the same who were saying 'In Caaarlos we troost!' and 'In Jos we trooost!'. Their misguided praise of Blobby is simply because - across the city in S2 - we've got the best manager this city has seen in around 40 years, and it hurts.

apparently when we finished 10th last season they told us it was a poor season in the end
but 12 th for them is a pre cursor to walking the title

cant accuse them of not being confident ,< if just a little bit mis guided

They told us 3 years ago that we were light years behind them and that they’d be looking down on us for a generation. Guess they must all be standing on their heads then? :D

I really dont get their response.
You're making us look absolute tits by flying a plane over so we're gonna raise money for charity.
Very weird.

It’s very weird for normal football fans nut not for the Pigs.

Normal fans would just suck it up, remember the crap that they dished out to us and wait for their day to come, but the Pigs just haven’t got it in ‘em. They crave to be liked, not laughed at. The problem is their club has been associated with everything bad in the game since the 1950’s and so they look for ways to look better than they really are and more importantly us. That’s why they suck up to other clubs on their forums especially when they’re playing us, it’s pathetic and cringeworthy but they can’t help themselves hence the donations idea. What they just did wasn’t out of generosity, it was out of desperation to look better and cover up how much they’re hurting. What next, ditch the cars and all go Vegans? That’ll really get one over us.

What they could do to really look better for example is to condemn the vile scum that started stories and sang about a young teenage girl just because she’s the opposition manager’s daughter, but again they’ve not got it in them because they feel it would draw more negative attention to a club that’s been seen as the shit hole of Sheffield for nearly 70 years.

Yeah but they are going to piss the league next season (apparently)

It just shows you they are incapable of becoming humble because they say that every season and never re-assess their expectations.

Next season will be their 20th anniversary since relegation from the Prem, Massive my fucking arse! :D

When clubs who can be classed along the lines of being massive like Newcastle and West Ham have been relegated they've managed to bounce straight back. This is Villa's third season down here and whether they go up or not I think it's safe to say they won't get stuck down here for another 17 years or so!

Leeds' Prem exile has been about 15 years now which is ridiculous from their point of view but they've won a lot more than the Pigs so can actually back it up.

It would have been better for Wednesday fans if they'd not given £600 to Chansiri for a season ticket and given it to charity instead.
I know you meant it lightheartedly but that’s the crux of it. Are people only allowed to spend money on necessities and must give everything else to charity? Do they go round pubs telling people that beer is bad for you and you’d be better giving your money to charity? No, of course not because that would be pious and sanctimonious. Like their comments about the plane.

Personally, I thought it wasn’t that funny and didn’t contribute to it but if I had, it wouldn’t be out of my ‘charity money’ pot, it would be out of my ‘enjoyment’ pot.

I agree Bush and it just became something that Wednesday fans tried to get one over on us. Fair play they gave money to charity but they can't take a joke at their expense and they love to give it out.

It might catch on. If I buy a coffee for a homeless person I'll be sure beforehand to be wearing club colours and state the following:

"I make this donation in the name of Sheffield United FC", please be sure to visit a nearby library with a computer at your earliest convenience to let the world know what a classy bunch we are, if you fail to comply that's the last freebie you'll ever have off me, pal".

The Salvation Army are pretty good at hypocrisy every Saturday night when trying to fleece pubgoers into buying a copy of Warcry.

The wendies I've come across are gutted at what we've done. I have to say though if it was the other way round I would be too.

While they are overpaying to watch that dross on Sunday, we are having the time of our lives and it's hurting them. Their charity collection seems to be a reaction to being wounded, as a way of soothing the pain almost.
Ah well.

All those Wendy season ticket holders have been giving very generously to a needy local charity; the problem is the money always seems to get spent on goods not fit for purpose and certainly not value for money. They'd be wiser giving it to the Cats' Home.
