Hope nobody bought any of the out of date bags of chocolate the pigs were selling in the away end.

Jebbo looks on a different level to their defenders physically.
I'd love to see this team (just for this game) with some of the loanees in it plus Arblaster. That would be very entertaining, not to say the current lads aren't playing well.![]()
Dewhurst7 kids on loan arblaster not playing either. Not sure the birthday cut off but players like Bogle and Brewster only just over 21.
Bit of a gulf in set ups.
Back three was Starbuck (5) on the right, Potter (4) in the middle and Freckleton (6) on the left. Potter is left footed and has just come back from a bad injury; pretty sure he has England age group recognition.Thought our number 4 (left side c/b) with hairy face was very good.
I have a feeling Potter is the one we rate the highest, and yes he's played for England. I thought Freckleton showed more composure on the ball than he has before, good to see.Back three was Starbuck (5) on the right, Potter (4) in the middle and Freckleton (6) on the left. Although we never seem to produce a tall, strong midfield enforcer. They're all Regan Slater type pocket rockets. Ben Whiteman was the last player filling out that size/stature.Not only do we have a skilful group with good football brains but they are the right size and stature.
Maguire and Staniland are a bit like Slater, small but clever and good allround qualities. Peck and Brooks are about 6 foot. Their game is more about ability though. Harrison Neal is the physical type and is doing well at Barrow.Although we never seem to produce a tall, strong midfield enforcer. They're all Regan Slater type pocket rockets. Seems like that Sachdev is the closest to stepping up (except Jebbo of course)... be interested to hear Ball_Sup (Phil)'s opinion thoughThought the lad Sachdev was great down the right hand side and a proper pain in the arse all night for them. Excellent low cross for the first goal. It was a very enjoyable game all round but seemingly men vs. boys. Big gulf in class. Jebbo did everything but score and was a proper handful.

Happy to bow to your greater experience but I'm not entirely sure that Andre Brooks could be classed as 'next cab off the ranks' at LWB. Other than the usual U18/U21 sink-or-swim out-of-position test has he ever played at wingback? He spent yesterday's game playing as a right sided attacking midfielder and from my limited knowledge would be as much of a square peg in the first team LWB role as Khadra, if not more so.Hi mate
I'm between a rock and a hard place. There are a few posters on here who push back at my comments - "but you said this ... at 4:12pm on the 8th of February 2015". My own fault, I keep publicising my Award is In The Post blog, people like you naturally ask questions.
Here we go....
I have never struggled with who has played well on the night.
I have never struggled with who is playing consistently well, game after game.
But, who has the potential to make it - don't know, never know, how could you know?
And who is closest to stepping up, multi dimensional answer innit.
It'll partly depend on where are we light. The management team may prefer square pegs in round holes to next U21 cab off the rank. Hence Khadra at LWB in preference to next cab Andre Brooks. I'm making the simple point that opportunities for U21 players will depend on need & management strategy. Ky Gordon for instance, we'll seemingly juggle any player into any position rather than give him consistent starts.
Anyway. Sachdev. Doing well. Making progress. England recognition. Personally, I don't think he's particularly close to the first team squad at the moment. But, he's certainly at the top of his game at the mo'.
?what do people think as to whether we need anyone to step up at RWB?
"what's the blocking queue in front of Sai?
I called him that, because Heckingbottom had him on the bench at PNE. To cover that position I felt.Happy to bow to your greater experience but I'm not entirely sure that Andre Brooks could be classed as 'next cab off the ranks' at LWB. Completely agree on Ky Gordon for what it's worth; although I can see how he might start tonight with Bash on the left and RND at wingback.

Not sure that disproves my point: Brooks had lined up as one of the flanking midfielders in almost an inside forward role in every game I've ever seen him play. He is very left footed too.OS has him as a left footed midfielder
Brooks has been at the club through U16s level and last season became a star performer for the U23s, his run of goal scoring form towards the back end of the season crucial in the team's title success. Left-footed, Brooks loves to break forward from midfield and influence games at the top end of the pitch.

The first rule of Football Academy Punditry...
If you win, it's all about league position
If you lose, it's all about developing players for the first team or to sell
